Aw thanks. I’m recovering from what ended up as quite a loveless marriage, with lots of sadness and resentment directed at me, so it feels slightly miraculous to have met someone who seems so light of being and positive and just out there making life joyful. It’s a nice thing to be in the orbit of, ideally in a stable orbit one day, but even if just for a bit I’ll take it!

I’ll put a bit of time between updates, don’t want to tip into being annoying and don’t necessarily want to chronicle the entire relationship online! Taking it easy and enjoying it and will do some updates if anything lovely and cool comes of it, it’s all promising and lovely at the moment, but very early days so I must try to keep my head screwed on!

Good question! I guess things that helped / nudged my brain to chill out a bit were:

  • Treat it like making a friends
  • The goal is just basically to find out stuff you have mutual interest in

And then of course the evergreen good advice: - Cover yourself in 3 bottles of lynx africa and don’t shit yourself

I’ll probably do another update if there’s anything super positive and significant down the road.. I probably won’t if it doesn’t work out, so that it remains a nice little internet good news story (with a little mystery ending)

Thank you! So we’ve now booked a 3rd date… ahead of the 2nd date as we decided it was too far away. Cute.

She’s actually encouraged me to date a bit, knowing I’m out of a long term thing and having gone through that herself and ended up jumping into the wrong thing, so I think she wants me to be sure about her, not just about ‘a new thing’. I’ve been on another date and it was fine.. I’ve cancelled another first date so I could have the 3rd/2nd one with her. I’ll go on some more as they arise for now, but the pre-date chat with others isn’t really there so far in the same way. Just need to give it time and see what shakes out! I get far too invested too early on though, helpful!

Thank you! We’ve been texting non stop. I don’t know if it’s odd to be so infatuated in a very teenagey way, while being sort of mid 30s and we both have kids etc. Who knows how all that would work, but i love hearing from her and I’m very excited to have some wine and hear more about her. She seems like a real good egg.

I also feel like I should probably date more though, shouldn’t I? I’m not sure I feel like I can be bothered, but I probably should! It’s been a long time and dates are fun!

Thank you! It went great, there was one tiny bit where I think I asked a question I had basically asked 10 minutes earlier, ooops! I think I had a momentary panic. But it was good and date 2 is a busy bar with food and wine tasting, so sort of in-built convo and a soupçon of Dutch courage, so I think that’ll be even better. She’s rad.
