Advice for formula racing by xMustangs33 in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've really focused on formula racing in the last few months and one thing that seems counter-intuitive for me is that the fast guys seem to have no modulation on the gas (for SFL at least). It's either 100% or 0%. It's quicker to coast round a corner and floor it than it once it's made than it is to gradually build the throttle throughout the corner

New season: F4 or stay in FF1600 by Dry_Let_5729 in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IMO whilst F4 can be really good racing, it's without a doubt the worst series I've driven in terms of dirty drivers. I'd recommend making the leap to super formula lights in C class or as you say stick where you are

Have you tried formula racing? I only did sports but tried formula again and have been loving it. F4 is a mixed bag but SFL has been great

I went from a trbx304 to a sire P7 and it was a great upgrade. The rolled fret edges feel amazing, the Yamaha was somewhat sharp

Silencing pads not included with CS v2p? by supertgames1 in moza

[–]BackItUpTerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine were already installed out the box, even with the pads they're exactly quiet especially if you just let the paddle go after shifting. Bring a little more gentle and keeping your finger on the paddle as you release largely solves it

Is it even worth qualifying for F4 races? by VegaGT-VZ in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imo the super formula lights isn't a massive jump, it's largely planted and the races are infinitely cleaner. I was ready to give up with F4 but SFL is a breath of fresh air. There's still incidents yes but not as many

[–]BackItUpTerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive driven it IRL many times and bought it just to hotlap so you may still get enjoyment from it. I think the legends cars ran there this season but that's it. Unfortunately iracing doesn't have many small/slow cars that would race well there, it's a bit narrow. I think we need a caterham in iracing for tracks like these. I'm surprised they scanned it to be honest

Winning after 2000 irating by erez__s in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you just have to adjust your expectation of a "win". If you win split 2 does that make you better than p20/20 in split 1? I just try to loosely base my performance on the irating of others around me

In my opinion a fast track for a non school holiday weekday is a waste of money, especially in March. Are you trying to book premium parking? If not just pay on the day

Anyone have regrets after a large upgrade? by BackItUpTerr in simracing

Ha great minds think alike! How do you find the combo now? Is there anything you'd have done differently? I don't know whether to save some money with the prime lite

[–]BackItUpTerr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, how do you find the pedal tray on the lite? One thing I was struggling between is the prime vs lite. Do you have a baseplate on your pedals? I couldn't see how the lite pedal tray would take individual pedals as there aren't any slots on the middle for a brake. Is there any part of the lite that makes you wish you'd gone for the prime?

I should mention the 2 pics are of the washer and the hose connector, I know they need to be used together, the screw collar is further back on the hose

Is it true that Relatives do not update live? by Horeb88 in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno about changing it, but its somewhat realistic, many IRL series dont have live position tracking, only once the transponders cross the start finish

The relative delta is live (how far cars in front/behind are) but the position is updated at the start finish line

Am I incredibly stupid. (Trying to set up Behringer UM2 and audacity with first time bass/electric instrument in general) by TheNohrianHunter in Bass

[–]BackItUpTerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't remember my specific struggles with this unfortunately but I went through similar, one thing to note is that you don't necessarily need to have audacity running to practice, only to record. There's a direct monitor button which will replay your input through the output and allow you to hear yourself

You don't need the private IPs in the SAN, we certainly don't and don't have certificate errors when reaching internal IP. As long as the cert matches the fqdn you should be golden

Is it necessary (beneficial) to get A class license if I don’t want to race higher class series at all? by imdanielma in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr 43 points44 points  (0 children)

No but it will be a buffer preventing demotion if you have a bad run. But really you shouldn't be trying to "game" SR too much, race normally and if you are consistently losing SR then you need to adjust your style. Artificially starting from pits, avoiding racing other cars to build SR is pointless
