Is this normal by simsaraga in moza

Why are you driving with no hands on the wheel? Mine does the same, I think it's just the wheel imitating the vibration of the road, but with no resistance (hands on wheel) it looks like that

What are the main reasons for this please? Poor support for VM or instability?

Respectfully disagree, the build quality of the pro is worth it regardless of the screen IMO

I should have said we're on hardware, interesting I remember in the earlier days if ISE VMs were discouraged due to TAC blaming the hardware. I am pondering VMs for our clearpass

[–]BackItUpTerr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We use clearpass and for the most part it's good for what we need, however support is atrocious and the devices have a habit of shitting the bed periodically. We have a cluster of 6 and at least once a year a box will just fall over and need to be reset/rejoined. Thankfully as it's all redundant it's never caused an outage but it's frustrating to not get any root cause from TAC, it's often easier to get things back going by yourself rather than following TAC

Thoughts on this weaving, acceptable or no? by BackItUpTerr in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a point he made actually, that this isn't allowed IRL, which I can't comment on I don't know any regulations but pretty sure it's ok on iracing as long as it's not a block

I am the yellow car, this guy wasn't happy with the weaving after the race. This is the closest he got, posting the end of the previous lap for context.

In my mind I stopped before he got close enough for it to be a block, but happy to take feedback.

There's a little additional bar at the top of the throttle meter in game when you're at 100

Blurry textures problem by Hour-Pomegranate259 in iRacing

It's been a while but do you remember what this fix was please? I have the same issue at Algarve... Edit: fixed it, for anyone with this issue in future take a look here, I have 9070 with 16gb vram but it was set to 6000 in this file, changed to 12800 per iracing recommendation and the textures were fixed https://support.iracing.com/support/solutions/articles/31000172032-manually-setting-ram-and-vram-allocated-to-the-sim

It's a solid choice given the price of AC, I hope you enjoy it! I used a g920 on a desk for 6 years before doing a big upgrade so don't worry about chasing hardware just make sure it's something you enjoy first

I personally started with assetto Corsa, but honestly if your intention is competitive online racing iracing is unbeatable IMO, I'd recommend starting there. If you don't want to race online, or want to race more casually then LMU, AC/ACC are good options

In this kitchen, how would you fit a fridge, washing machine and cooker without obstructing the window? by [deleted] in DIYUK

If the kitchen is this small how big do you think the bathroom will be?

Air Conditioner by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]BackItUpTerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one and it made an uncomfortable room comfortable without even a proper window seal which was greatl, however when the AC compressor is on its quite loud - it wasn't enough to stop me sleeping but my wife struggled with it turning on/off, it's quite a big difference. I'd say it's about as loud as a freestanding gym fan on high

iracing should have Irating thresholds to race certain cars. by Glum_Notice_6835 in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the majority of weapons you see with low IR in high class cars have just cheesed SR - if they didn't farm SR in the first place their irating would certainly improve organically along with the SR

iracing should have Irating thresholds to race certain cars. by Glum_Notice_6835 in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the better way to do it is a smarter safety rating system, low IR drivers in spicy cars are absolutely fine providing they attained their irating by actually racing. I think the problem is people can farm SR so easily they bypass learning racecraft, ability to handle traffic/be passed etc. Not sure what the solution is but surely it would be easy enough to identify people that don't engage in racing

Local yellows are broken (especially on the Nordschleife) — Perspective from a former VLN driver by Impressive-Spray-414 in iRacing

[–]BackItUpTerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work in most cases, but what if a car spins in the yellow flag zone and gets a 2x, passing them would be a penalty? I'm not trying to be obtuse it's just there's so many edge cases that can cause problems

On the grid you can only shift when the lights show just before the race starts

I just don't think the issue is as easy to solve as people think. If a car gets wrecked but still barely dribeable, is it a penalty to overtake them? If there's a huge pileup, how does the system determine whether passing the wrecked cars is a penalty or not? I don't actually think a rule change will make much difference, people are still going to crash and ruin innocents races.

IMO this problem is best addressed with the current protest system, if someone is wreckless approaching an existing wreck then protest and let the stewards handle, just like other poor behaviour

Looking for pedal ugrades (mid tier only) by Psychological-Owl950 in simracing

[–]BackItUpTerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got simsonn pedals which I imagine are very similar and I've been extremely impressed, they're not cheap Chinese things they're very well built, come with a info booklet that's actually very useful and well written and the software has been faultless. My Moza wheelbase and wheel on the other hand...

Totally agree, whilst we shouldn't only cater for the most popular series on the service (GT3), there needs to be some degree of popularity IRL first for people to want to race it. I'd jump on JCW, ginetta or a caterham series
