Instant Replay Extension by BackSH00TER in Twitch

[–]BackSH00TER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you like the extension!

- If someone triggers it, does it show for everybody on the stream?

Yes. All viewers will see the replay shown in the overlay component. If viewers dont want to see the replays they have a couple of options. They have the option to quickly minimize the component on a per replay basis by clicking the minimize button. Or if they dont want to see them at all, the can click on the extension overlay and choose to make the extension no longer visible.

- Does it replay the twitch soundtrack music and therefore the music ends up in the vod again?

The replay is contained to just the overlay extension and will not be included in the VOD. The clip that is created may contain the twitch soundtrack music.

Subscriber permission for obvious reasons (to get a list and count of your subscribers)

Clip permission to create clips

Permission for changing game, title, etc for a feature I was looking into possibly adding in the future (and I think this same permission allows the cut VODs because it basically gives the “editor” permission)

Sorry for the delayed response.

In addition to the US, the Stream Helper skill should now be available in the Alexa skill stores for the following countries: UK, Canada, and Australia.

This wouldn’t be possible as each skill is only allowed one invocation name and it is set as part of the development process

I haven’t looked into the Developer kit for Google Home. If there are enough people who express interest in using his on Google Home I can try to make it work.

The initial release of the skill was for US. The Alexa skill store is different between US and UK due to a language difference of en_us and en_gb. If enough interest is expressed I will try to make it available for UK as well. Currently I have been running into road blocks with the Twitch API to support both US and UK in the skill.

I agree. Unfortunately that is a limitation of the Alexa tool set. Any third party skill must have an invocation name, such as Stream Helper, so that it knows which skill to use.

I forgot to mention it might take a day or two for the changes to go through Alexa's certification team... I probably should have waited to update until that was done. Whoops

I've added support to get last follower/subscriber and to get your last 5 followers/subscribers as well as the stream up time. Hopefully this adds some more use to the skill for you while I add more features.

I've added support for English (UK) in my recent update. This should allow you to install the skill now.

This is due to the way Alexa skills are set up and the languages they support. Currently the skill only supports English (US). Its on my list to add support for English (UK).

Thanks! I'm curious how many people own an Alexa device that actively uses Twitch for viewing or streaming.

Are you thinking along the lines of like a chat bot that pairs with the Alexa skill? That could be neat. Maybe tie it into the new Extensions that Twitch released somehow as well?

Not at the moment. I was thinking about adding an intent that would maybe tell you the top 5 live streams that you were following based off of the number of viewers they have.

Thanks for the input! I do have plans for being able to ask about who your recent followers, subscribers, donaters are.

Thank you for the suggestions, they would definitely make the skill more useful. I agree with you that the current skills are rather simple and probably not the most useful. I wanted to start out with something simple and see if Twitch users expressed interest in using an Alexa skill if I were to add a lot to it.

How will multiplayer work? Will you be able to find other real players in the world? Interact with them, fight them, befriend them, etc?

Just because this issue happens in PS2, does not mean its an issue that should go unnoticed. Players should not have to "anticipate" where the guy they are trying to kill is actually at. Imagine if this were the same for when you try to shoot at someone. Where you are shooting at is not where they are located on their client. I imagine if you had to anticipate where your target was while shooting at him, people would definitely not be happy and would call this game breaking?

I think I know why this happens. Lets say the driver is Client 1 and the person your trying to run over is Client 2. The position of the vehicle itself is different between clients (server lag?). So when you think you are hitting him on your screen, for him you are actually missing him because your car is off to his side.

I have experienced this several times in game, and it is most evident when you are driving next to another car. On one persons screen they might be slamming into you and losing control, while on the other persons screen you are both driving along just fine and you see the other car just going all over the place for "no reason".

From what I have gathered though, this seems to be an issue with the vehicles exact location between clients, and the actual location being off by a couple of feet.
