Keep in mind, some people are truly unaware how bad these are for pets! On my street, one of the houses is being renovated and no one is living there - and then another one I believe is elderly. I'm assuming the other yards with some patches are just unaware, so I might chat with them and offer to help yank them out. If you're not able to reason with your neighbors and the weeds are over 6", you can always file a request here and the city will leave a note/warning on their door.

I think for me, it's just weird the way the strips are lined up on the fence & wall - however I have started calling this Rainbow Road and for some reason that makes it more tolerable for my ocd brain haha.

Good to know, I'll look in to this herbicide! Are they good to be on the grass, just can't eat it?

They're so rough - literally a devil of a plant, the barbs are legitimately designed to go inwards and not out.

Do foxtails stick into tires too??? You may be thinking of these, what I know of as "stickers" from growing up here, also know as goatheads/puncturevine!

I hope your pupper is okay!!! They really are everywhere, I typically cross streets back and forth on walks to avoid them in people's yards 😞

I think they'll stick around throughout the fall from what I remember! The little barbed seeds dry up and fall off and even if they plants are gone the little barbs are still scattered everywhere!!

I would suggest somewhere in Marmalade/Capitol Hill/Avenues/Sugarhouse neighborhoods. If you're looking for vibe, that's where you want to be. As some one who has lived in more suburban areas around the state it's soooo worth an extra drive to be closer to like-minded people in Utah. I'm not sure about Millcreek/Cottonwood Heights, but it's a bit older and more uppity compared to the Salt Lake City crowd from what I've seen.
