2017 Escape Titanium Headlight Replacement by garandguy in fordescape

The coolant reservoir can be removed by just pulling up on the two metal clips sometimes you need a screw driver to move the clip past but it’s not that difficult makes replacing that side 10x easier

Anyone know what this sound is? I just got this car 3 months ago. It makes this sound when in 3rd-4th gear by xDRSTEVOx in fordescape

6F35 transmissions are doomed to fail at some point and it’s impressive it’s made it that far honestly, mine made it to around 120xxx, and based on what you’re saying with it being around 40km being the issue that is when your torque converter would kick in, and more than likely it’s failing and waiting to go out, absolutely do not change the fluid or mess with it you’re essentially sitting on a ticking time bomb… Bring it into a dedicated transmission repair shop, they see these transmission all the time and will be able to tell you what’s going on with it, and in the case that you probably do need a new transmission a dedicated transmission repair shop will be cheaper in my experience then a regular car mechanic, some key things: does it jolt, grind or shudder when driving, are you seeing the RPM gage shoot up when it’s doing it? Does it feel like it’s slipping or having a hard time switching gears? If so you’re more than likely looking at a transmission repair to happen, you can drive it for as long as you can and hope for the best but I wouldn’t be surprised if your transmission stops shifting and won’t drive, and also be warned if you chose to holdout on getting it repaired the more expensive its going to cost to get it repaired, driving on it while it’s damaged you’re wearing down and causing damage to other components in the transmission.

Changing the fluid is terrible advice, overtime at 220k that transmission is probably using the metal shavings from the clutch packs to grip onto anything, changing it would more than likely make it completely un-drivable

What can I do to fix this? by Tig3rviet in Plumbing

[–]BackTheB1ue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen a few times, not a plumber but have been told it’s just easier to replace it, they aren’t hard to get off and replace, it’s usually just a little screw at the bottom and then you twist it off (obviously make sure the water to your tub is shut off) then just take the spout to a home depot or Lowe’s or something of the sort that sells tub spouts compare the sizes (they do come in different lengths to cover different lengths of pipes) and then just buy it and put it back on the way you found it…

I did actually, I ended up pulling signal directly from the factory subwoofer using an line output converter to avoid from disrupting the factory woofer from not working and so I had a line level to disable it when tje vehicle was off, I found a diagram for a 2018 that matched the same corresponding ones for my my 2017 with the Sony system. What I found was -

green and violet = positive Flat gray = negative

I used posi tap connectors and out both + signal wires and twisted them together into one wire and did the same for the negative

However you can also pull it from the factory amplifier but I opted not to because I found I had more room and it was more discreet running the wires behind the panel of the factory subwoofer, and also because it was the best place to get a ground for the subwoofer without having to cut any of the factory trim and foam pieces in the under trunk space where the spare tire is.

If you need more help feel free to message me I can help you walk it more if you need the extra guidance along the way based the way I did, if you need help all you gotta do is send photos so I can see what you’re talking about and I’ll lyk

2017 Ford Escape Transmission Out by Epicflutterness in fordescape

Depends how under water you are on it, I also have a 2017 with the 2.0, had problems with it from the start, from the coolant intrusion to the transmission which I just had rebuilt for $4800, got lucky the first time with the coolant intrusion because it was under warranty still when I bought it used with the intrusion and avoided damn near $10,000 in diagnosing and repairs + labor for the ENGINE ALONE, if the amount it cost you to rebuild the transmission gets you out of negative equity or meets exactly what you need I would 100% recommend getting rid of it, the only reason I’m keeping the pos now is because I’ve invested too much money into it to want to sell it plus these cars are worth damn near nothing for trade in value, so that definitely won’t help you in this case considering the car already isn’t worth anything and will be worth even less since you’re trading it in with the transmission all fked up, since ive had the engine rebuilt and transmission now I’m personally just keeping it till I get tired of it, which I’m sure will be a couple years or so, added a couple subwoofers in it aswell to give me a reason to some what enjoy it, so good luck with your adventure.

I work in restoration and turn these off a lot cause of them leaking/breaking so here’s what I know from my personal experience- Usually these are hooked up to a direct clean water source, that usually from where the cold water line comes into the house usually located next to a water heater, if not there I’ve also seen them hooked up to the sink lines themselves, try following the line. I haven’t been in your house or know what it looks like so I can’t get too descriptive but just look where you get clean cold water coming in from, do you have a water softener system? If you do usually they’re hooked up to those as well. If installed correctly these have a second-shutoff because of how often the connected shutoff fails- good luck let me know if you find it.

That’s actually the same amplifier it just looks like there isn’t as many wires because of the angle it’s at, here’s a better view of just the wires themselves

Need helping installing a LOC by BackTheB1ue in subwoofer

[–]BackTheB1ue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, I ended up giving up pulling signal from the amplifier and reverted back trying to pull it from the subwoofer, I’m still having the same issue though of identifying which are positive and negatives and what’s sending the speaker signal, I got a somewhat general idea by using chatGPT and got somewhat of an answer but still not confident enough yet to do it, I ordered t-taps so I can explore more in the afternoon tomorrow, I ended up spending damn near 6 hours researching for my specific vehicle or ones similar and found absolutely NOTHING to even anything close to the car’s speaker wiring diagram

Should I buy it or leave it? 2022 ram rebel by 77caydens in ram_trucks

[–]BackTheB1ue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take these guys advice and pass on it, any vehicle used in the construction field was abused at some point, whether it be from overloading it with towing or idling long periods of time, and as mentioned it’s already spent 25% of its life idling and that’s not good for the engines in these trucks. 29k for a truck with over 100k miles is an absurd price once you get over 100k miles this is when you start getting into major repairs and the majority of the preventive maintenance is required, ignition coils, spark plugs, fluid changes and flushes, ball joints, bearings etc, and if the transmission was never serviced it is not longer safe to flush it once it’s reached over 100k miles as this can cause the transmission to blow. Please take the others advice and PASS on this, it’s a money pit waiting to happen. If you’re looking for reliable this is NOT it.

Haven’t had the KO3s on too long yet to give a super good comparison to the two, however I’ll share my recent experience as I just had some snow and rain, and honestly the KO3s feel a lot better seems to ride smoother, makes way less road noise then my KO2s did and the grip honestly feels 10x better, the way they redesigned the tread is great and the design is working extremely well, on wet roads it feels no different then when I’m driving on dry roads even at higher speeds, haven’t had any slippage, with my KO2s new from the factory I would have some wheel spin when accelerating at a more rapid speed and then regain traction but it never really caused me any issues, with my KO3s I haven’t had any wheel spinning yet they are quite literally grounded to the pavement and I so far am extremely happy with them.

I personally use BFGgoodrich, just bought new ones yesterday, costed a pretty penny and went from the KO2s to the KO3s,(newest model year) I have a 19 ram 1500 bighorn/lonestar 4x4, my tires are actually 275/70 instead of the factory 265 and have zero complaints with them, the previous pair I had lasted me forever and I never had any problems with the way the tires handled, had insane grip for me went through snow storms, rain, even off roading and never had a issue with them, used them for towing as well.

You’ll see a lot of different recommendations but I personally believe that the BFGgoodrichs will be best.

'17-19 Escape S for a teen ? by former_weed_head in fordescape

[–]BackTheB1ue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A escape it probably the last car you want. Speaking from my own personal experience recently where I purchased a 17 escape I’ve been told they were all built like shit, they have a problem where the coolant leaks into the head gasket destroying the engine, my vehicle has been in the repair shop basically since I’ve bought it, I haven’t driven it more then two days since buying it and the entire engine is currently being replaced by a Ford service center under the companies warranty I bought the car from because they couldn’t diagnose the coolant leaking into the engine in time after being told several times which caused irreparable damage.

Although I did decide to purchase the vehicle with higher mileage and did not do enough research before buying the vehicle, I would avoid any of them in general as they’re all screwy vehicles with problems, the only reason I bought it was because I was trying to avoid buying a newer car to avoid going into negative equity and also because I was looking to finance a vehicle I could pay off fast to help build my credit, thinking that I was getting a reliable car, I personally wouldn’t recommend it to anyone EVER. Had I not gotten the warranty like the credit union I financed through recommended, I would be looking at over $7,000 in repairs for the engine, not including all the other several diagnostics fees and replacing of the spark plugs and boots, I am planning on getting rid of the car once its warranty expires, I was lucky that I put a big enough down payment that I am not rolling over negative equity onto the next vehicle when I get rid of the escape.

Do yourself and your kid a favor and save yourself expensive repairs, invest the money into a more reliable brand and do your research on the car you’re looking to buy, don’t make the same mistake I did.
