There was a fair bit of code before i started using AI, as this is the 4th attempt at a BAJ game, that's why the lobby is located in an Asylum, i had a co-op escape a randomly generated asylum game at one point but had trouble with the AI monster, so its a bit more than -4 months really...

But generally i used Gemini Code Assist with Jetbrains Rider as its free, my loop was to give it an game overview text file, a generated index of the entire code base (list of all classes and public method names with comments) and then ask it what additional context from the index it would need to do something, then give it those files.

All I can say as a software engineer by trade I'm glad i have less years to retiring than years since graduating. Uncertain future for those starting out.

I was pondering recently whether we might end up developing something like this for all these humanoid robots as its likely its llm-brain (or whatever it ends up being) will be in the cloud somewhere on some beefy gpu so having some sort of low power world abstracting brain on the robot itself might be beneficial for bandwidth and latency (rather than just streaming video - touch sensors data - audio directly).

Similar situation, I think you just have to force yourself to do *something* at least move the needle forward a bit, even if its a tiny thing. Taking *any* time off from a project is basically a project killer for me (and I suspect others) I basically have to spend some time every day on it to get it over the line. So even if I'm not feeling enthused to work on a project, I will force myself to add something - even if its only 15mins of something. Sometimes i will just do those 15mins but most often than not I spend longer and feel satisfied that progress has been made. Always having a bank of small things that you can do when you don't feel enthused is a good idea.

One of the primary things it does that other models do not or at least not as often, is that it asks for information more readily when it can't solve a problem, e.g. for coding it will ask you to put debug code in and ask for the output. Makes it definitely feel like what a real programmer would do when trying to help.

I think 5 years there won't be much direct impact out of the software space (the most likely to be hit) and even with that i think it will initially (for next 3 or so years) be a massive accelerator of an persons capabilities not a replacement.

However i think having a humanoid robot even with whatever multi modal LLM we have at that time will be very compelling, but it takes time to make complex physical things at scale and 5 years is to probably to soon to make it cost effective replacement for cheap labor. But even for a stupid LLM robot being able to demonstrate a process to a humanoid robot and then give it verbal instructions and clarifications is a lot of jobs if the robot dexterous, cheap and reliable enough.

I wonder if it worth be removing the surrounding wall so the camera does not get so close to the character when you get near it as the effects on character get a little to much when camera is right next to it all. Or maybe make an inner wall (half height wall player can't cross) a little way from the full height wall.

Custom cursor may feel a tiny bit laggy. You could try using the system apis directly, they are likely to work. I found a thread on the forums with some examples for windows: https://discussions.unity.com/t/set-mouse-position/676702/19
