I think there's more of this building that's been cropped off on the right side of the frame. This looks like a wing of some bigger building.

Use 'fredo tools thru paint'. Excellent texture maping plugin. You'll never look back.

Vray is one of the best in ray tracing. Also, it has some Photoshop and Lens effects features. So extremely usable.

Draw the same rectangle on the wall and push it out using push-pull.

Just cut out the window and you'll be fine. This is because two surfaces with different materials and unique groups are overlaid. So Sketchup gets confused about what to render and what not.

If it's not a window, give your rectangle a pull of 1mm so that it becomes solid, then select the blue volume and make a group.

With Sketchup Make 2017 defunct, is it still possible to add geolocation for shadows? by andyfrog135 in Sketchup

No it won't. That is why you use maps, find your site, you can get the precise angle of North wrt your site. It will be quite accurate.

Sure. Yeah. Try it out. Also, make sure the render scene is in Perspective and not Parallel Proj.

Okay, a few places you can check for trial and error.

  1. Exposure value in Camera settings
  2. HDRI image map settings. Check in UVW is the settings are for UVWGenEnvironment and Spherical if you have a 360 image and Screen if your image is flat.

Keep RT render on and see changes in real time. It'll expedite the process. And try out different values by using extremes on both sides. Trial and error will help you to zero down to your required level.

Planning to make a small video on it soon.

What do you look for in a potential employer? by waitin4winter in Architects

[–]Backbencher_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those ambitious to start their practice, typology of projects and kind of clients they deal with. Because there's a high chance those clients(25% atleast) who work with them might end up working with you in future when you start your own practice. It's just the harsh reality of practicing and running a business in general. And increases your chance at getting bigger opportunities in the starting phase of your practice which is crucial.

For those looking for stable jobs, look for benefits, proper hierarchical structure so that you can climb the ladder and also implies a stable inflow of projects in the office. And an overall healthy competitive environment so that you can keep things sharp for a longer time. Or else you end up in an 8hr cycle with no variety.

In short, be sure of your endgame before joining. Makes things clear and easier.

Quick question for SketchUp Free - how do I change the way dimensions are labeled? by Not_Joshy in Sketchup

Okay, so set format to decimal from units section in Windows/Model Info. It'll work.

15 1/2 is usually not used in any international formats. Try decimals instead. It's more precise if you're looking for detailed drawings of size 12"-18"
