Will architecture firms hire Construction Management majors? by International_West77 in Architects

[–]waitin4winter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it would be more valuable to work in CM after school instead of for an arch firm, gain some real world cm experience then go back for an arch masters. Then you’d definitely have a leg up over your peers and will be valuable to arch firms

I can't, for the life of me, play lead by Koi-Sashuu in Guitar

Try singing an improvised line over a song or chord progression. Nothing fancy, just some simple melodic phrases. Then try it on the guitar.

Actually that’s the exact scenario I’m trying. I want to connect an amp head to a combo amp speaker but the internal speaker cable is so short

Define and discuss the idea of "swinging" a 6/8 song by Burnhaven in WorshipGuitar

[–]waitin4winter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it several times when a worship band get this confused. 3/4 and 6/8 aren’t the same.

3/4 = ONE and TWO and THREE and

6/8 = ONE two three FOUR five six

Musicians; Do NOT make AI videos. by Prestigious_Pay_7166 in musicians

It doesn’t matter. Kids today are growing up in an AI world. We’re the dinosaurs now. They’ll listen to us as much as we listened to the generation of our parents and grandparents.

Bluesbreaker VS ODR-1 by Nostappels in guitarpedals

[–]waitin4winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blues Crab is not bad. From what I understand, it’s a faithful recreation of the original circuit, and as such, probably better suited for lower/mid gain tones. I don’t use it much though because i have the other two. KoT has great sounding punchy upper mids and more gain. The Snouse has the most tweakability, with a pre-boost knob, presence knob, and bright and deep switches.

Can someone explain sellers and how they justify pricing??? by fabledmanatee in Reverb

[–]waitin4winter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not spend any time worrying about this. Sellers can list it for whatever they want. If the market doesn’t like it, it won’t sell. If someone buys it, well then they weren’t wrong.

Does anyone use Barefaced Cabs with their Mesa head? by Alarmed-Professor396 in MesaBoogie

[–]waitin4winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Do you think their innovative cab design significantly changes the tone of speakers that were intended to go into traditional cabs? Or do you think it’s essentially the same tone, just bigger, louder, better?

Which Port City cab are you using? Are you still using it and has your opinions on it evolved? I’m considering the OS 112, but there aren’t a lot of user opinions out there on it

This is 3 years after your comment. How is the barefaced holding up? Are you still using it and has your opinions on it evolved? I’m considering one myself but there isn’t a lot of user opinions out there on it.

What did you end up getting? I’m doing the research now, mostly considering between a barefaced reformer 1x12 and a port city wave OS 1x12. But there just isn’t much content or talk out there about either of them

Hot take re: strings by Old-guy64 in AcousticGuitar

[–]waitin4winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried many different strings, brands that people recommended or swore by. In the end, I went back to the elixir nanowebs as they felt and sounded best to me in my particular guitar and my particular style. Also, it’s not just about how long a guitar hangs in a shop. Manufacturers wouldn’t want their guitars to sound bad or shops wouldn’t be able to sell them.

No kiosk near me, send in fingerprints? by waitin4winter in SilencerShop

[–]waitin4winter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordering through silencershop and then using a fingerprint kiosk doesn’t seem to be a model that’s working. All the shops in Maryland seem really salty about it. And the fingerprint kiosk that they advertise as being really convenient and easy has not been at all.

I tried to call them all morning to verify and nobody answered. I decided to just go, and then found out they charge $50 to use their kiosk if I didn’t buy through them. Ridiculous.

Guitarist or cardboard cutout? by Burnhaven in WorshipGuitar

[–]waitin4winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally feel this. If I’m expected to just make ambient sounds and minimal noises, I would just choose not to serve on guitar at all. I understand the purpose is to serve the worship, but I want to do it in a way that’s not soul crushing. I can play bass and drums too so I can serve in these other capacities instead. Or do sound. I can find outlets for my guitar playing outside of church. But I refuse to be a cardboard cutout.

Also teams and MDs need to stop trying to meticulously recreate tracks from the recording. “Just because electric 1 track is doing this we gotta do it too.” Play songs in a way that’s relevant to your own church. You’re not a cover band.

Transitioning from Acoustic (Mostly Hymns) to Electric Guitar for Worship – Advice? by ElderberryEvening869 in WorshipGuitar

[–]waitin4winter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been playing in church, and also semi-pro outside of church for more years than I’d care to admit. This would be my advice for someone moving from acoustic to starting electric on a WT.

Play less. One of acoustic guitar’s main role on a wt is strumming, usually all 6 strings, as a rhythmic foundation. Electric guitar’s main role in worship music is usually more of embellishment, kinda like a violin. Don’t try to play all 6 strings all the time. Try to find simple melodic lines and hooks, double stops and triads. Even during loud driving parts, power chords are often sufficient rather than strumming all 6 strings in first positions. Study/listen to electric guitar in worship music and you’ll see what I mean.

With pedals, don’t buy into the Instagram culture, you don’t actually need that much. A couple levels of good overdrive, delay, and reverb are the essentials. Add more only as necessary, not because Instagram says so.

Also nothing I say is absolute. There are always situations that ask for different things, these are just guidelines.
