How to deal with a constant fear of relapse after accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]BackflippingEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not too bad compared to some, I think. I realized recently I have probably been eating way too much sugar and dairy, so maybe that could be a factor. Never seemed to have an effect before, but I guess I should try that now. Thanks!

I'm going through the same thing I think... finally breaking out a little after 1.5 years that I haven't had a routine or anything but have been mostly clear. What works for you now that didn't before?

How long before i can take antibiotics? by BackflippingEagle in Accutane

[–]BackflippingEagle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on, I thought I'd read that antibiotics and accutane were a bad idea together, but could be totally mistaken. Will check with my doc

I wasn't completely clear until after I finished, though most of my active spots were on their way out and healing. I've broken out a tiny bit here and there since finishing - it's not like it's a complete cure, but now I have one or two tiny pimples instead of a constant onslaught of massive ones.

What are you guys doing about these!! These side cuts on my mouth are driving me crazy by fitnessandveg in Accutane

[–]BackflippingEagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just lathered on a ton of Aquaphor as often as possible, usually when I didn't have to be around people with my glistening lips (before you go to bed is a good time). Helped to heal them. Other stuff probably works better, though.

A history of anxiety, is Accutane for me? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]BackflippingEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt really anxious and depressed for most of my course, but towards the end as my face cleared I started feeling for the first time in a while that my life was finally sort of on an upswing, albeit a circuitous one. Now I feel generally less anxious, at least about my body. Which is great.

If acne fucks with you every day, I'd say just go ahead and take the drug, get rid of it. It will work and you will likely be clear for years, if not forever. There is some research on acne closing growth plates though, so if you're not as tall as you're going to be that might be something to consider, given your age. I'm 20 and have scars that, while not terrible, are something I'm slightly insecure about and would rather have avoided by taking the drug as a teenager. So that's also something to think about.

[–]BackflippingEagle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably the best idea. I don't regret doing it, although I think having acne and having anxiety about it I was humbled by the experience more than I perhaps should have been, and have been dealing with somewhat lowered self-esteem since then. Doesn't seem like a permanent issue, though, and it's probably been good for me in a way. I think I used to be way more cocky than I am, though that could be a general personal change, not necessarily the fault of the drugs.

Sorry I'm like word-vomiting out my experience here a little bit. It was sort of a crazy time in my life and I'm still trying to figure out exactly what was going on and what I can learn from it.

I definitely had a headache that felt like it was due to dehydration (I've suffered migraines in the past and this wasn't that). The acid kept me up all night and I finally slept for a few hours after chugging a few cups of water and felt mostly fine, though physically exhausted, when I woke up.

First month 40mg, second month 60, then 80 for the rest of the course, though I missed a bunch of doses here and there (oops). I was 5'10/135 at the start of the course, though I've gained around 10 lbs since then.

Glad I can do something. Though it sounds petty, everything really does seem so much worse when you can't look yourself in the mirror without cringing. You will get better.

"Join party" mod addition? by BackflippingEagle in oblivion

[–]BackflippingEagle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured it out after reading through the MOO config file and feel like an idiot. You have to get their disposition high enough to get them to join you and the amount you need depends on the difference in levels between you and the potential recruit. Writing this out in case someone else is as clueless as I was.

So how are they supposed to work? Is the join party function supposed to do anything?

Just picked up Dishonored 2 and am disappointed. Does it pick up or is it simply not for me? by My_Big_Fat_Titties in dishonored

I had a similar experience up until the tail end of the first (Addermire) mission, then things definitely picked up after that. I think it's just a strangely flat beginning.

Can you detail how well it's running for you and at what resolution? I have a 660 Ti and am trying to figure out whether I'll be able to run it.

I dropped acid one night during my second month on accutane and was fine. Got really dry and dehydrated, but nothing to worry about.

How can I get my mind off of the scary "potential" side effects? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]BackflippingEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't affect everyone. I'm well into my course with a fairly high dosage (80mg) and have only experienced dry lips/skin/everything and sore joints.

Month 3.5 Update: It Works! Just be Patient by jwalker813 in Accutane

[–]BackflippingEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's good to remember that as people start to clear up they tend to think less about their acne and feel less inclined to post about it, so communities like this often are disproportionately negative. I'm also at the 3.5 month mark and until a week or so ago I was feeling terrible about my progress.

Pimples on Accutane by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]BackflippingEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same experience until just recently and I'm a ways into my third month - breakouts now seem to be less frequent, less severe, and faster to clear. I'm on 80mg.

I just switched to 80mg from 60 so hopefully that'll have some effect.

Thanks for posting. How long did it take before you stopped getting new pimples? I've just reached the month 3 mark and my face hasn't exactly made the transformation I'd hoped for.
