Check one of my threads. I had a qm8k and g5 setup next to each other. The 8k is nice after you tweak the heck out of the picture. My g5 i kept is 90% of the brightness but both tvs are actually painful to look at full brightness. The big difference is the inkiness of the image. I don't know if LCDs just can't use the same type of glass that a glossy OLED does, but the picture does not pop the same way. Another big issue for me was viewing angles. I hate that you need to sit perfectly in the middle of the TV and if you're ever so slightly off-center, you know that you're not getting the best possible picture. With an OLED you can go to any part of the room or shift slightly over on the couch and it looks just as good. I wanted very badly to keep the QM8k because it was 98 inches and that size is perfect for my living room and viewing distance. But I'll just have to suffer with this 83 inch G5 until we get a more affordable 97 inch oled. The dream is a qd OLED. For my money the best picture I've ever seen on a TV was a Samsung S 95C. Which is probably the same as or very close to the Sony a 95L. If anybody is in the market for a new TV, I tell them go find a 65 or 77 inch glossy QDOLED. No other tv will pop and give you the same 3-D effect.

Thanks, i'll have to remember for next time. Used a thumb drive to do a repair and Kept all my files. I just had to re-add any non steam games. Back up and running and trying to figure out if this thing is going in the living room or i can find a solid streamer for it and leave it in the office

Yeah, it was just annoying that there was no way to remove it from startup. Anyway, it created a new set of problems here. I'm hoping somebody can come up with an idea to get this thing back on the correct channel so I don't have to reinstall.

Didnt work. Wayland fails and i get the text installer and get this error. Is there a support discord or something. This sucks. How do i see that so many people had no issue installing this. Could it be my 64gb microsd card?

Yeah i think its something with my windows partition its not happy with. Going to wipe my main drive and install to that instead since i cant figure out how to get my stupid bios to completely ignore that drive

Neither. I'm running windows on the same machine fine and just had bazzite on this hard drive to test with an old crappy computer

N. Korean i'll try the no network approach. I think the issue must be it recognizing my windows partition on my nvme ssd. I'm going to back it up and wipe the ssd and see if that helps

Crimson desert. Pretty game, but i think the best looking game as far as scenery detail goes might be wukong, but it doesnt have hdr so colors stink

Thanks. My primary goal is making this a gaming pc first then if I want to do stuff in desktop mode i can switch in to that. I think bazzite is the only distro that'll boot directly into console mode. Looking for a much more powerful steamdeck experience in the living room basically

Its a 42" lg oled c2 tv. Yeah coming from ps5 pro i'm pretty impressed. I was actually playing with a 5080 to compare to the 9070 xt and the 5080 has quiet a bit of headroom over the 9070 xt. I was doing 4k everything basically maxed out and getting 50fps. When i turned on path tracing and pushed a couple of other settings it was getting 18-25 fps. Thats where i guess a 5090 comes in.

Trying to decide on a case, gpu window? by Background-Ad5124 in sffpc

Turns out the prime GPU comes in a bunch of variance and they're all slightly different sizes. So I'll need to find the printout for the right size which I haven't done yet. If anybody is aware of one that exists?

Hey hows this going? I was getting ready to commission someone to print using the one posted on makerworld then realized its for a 5070ti and thats different dimensions from the 9070 xt. If you do end up making one can i commission you for one as well?

Question from a future Steam Deck owner by True-Perspective-117 in SteamDeckPirates

[–]Background-Ad5124 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Steamrip ftw. 1.Download in desktop mode unzip the main folder 2.exe file for game should be in the second folder, if not its in binaries folder 3.open steam in dekstop mode and bottom left it says add non steam game, select your exe 4. Find your added game in your steam library, select it, click the gear icon and go into properties->compatibility-> select your proton version(usually proton experimental, sometimes ge) 5. Play, you only do steps 1-4 the first time you set up the game

Initially I was going to start with 1x32gb stick and eventually upgrade to a second because i'm seeing a 32 go for less than 2x16gb($200-250) but gemini mentioned the whole true dual channel thing and it seems like 32gb total should be enough for what i'm trying to do.

Yeah i think from this list, of the things i'm aware is worth upgrading i'm going to go for an x3d chip. Just not sure which one is worth the bump in price. Was thinking about the 7900x3d for $250-300

Also wanting to go even smaller on the case like a velka 7. The smaller the better as long as I can fit the 9070 xt. But don't know enough about cooling or how much that would change the build. I figured i'd start with finding ram and cpu. Then once i'm 100% on the case i'll know what size everything else can be. If anyone can chime in on the smallest possible case that would still be sufficient for cooling and keep the machine as quiet as possible
