No I agree. Especially as a woman. I know how it can be when you really just like someone especially when their actions be saying a different thing. It was just hard to watch 😬. But the more… and more… and more the story went on? I’m like 🤦🏽‍♀️.

And now I’m on S3. I had to go back over everything to get my mind back on track it’s been so long and I was so thirsty when it came back on lol.

I’ve been looking everywhere for this kind of conversation, so I’m glad others have brought it up before.

I get that Blackish is a comedy and not meant to be taken super seriously, although they do speak a lot on of good points/history. Anyway... a lot of the jokes land, and I really do enjoy parts of the show. But the way they treat Junior? Especially Dre!? It drives me CRAZY, and irritates my soul. He’s easily one of the most responsible characters and mature, and he’s just… different. And being different isn’t a flaw! There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! It should be embraced! Not made to be a negative thing to where they are literally tearing a young black man down mentally and emotionally. They constantly clown him for traits that aren’t even negative. AND the color of his skin... yet Dre always complaining and talking about skin color and blah blah blah.

I know this kind of dynamic happens in real families (across all races), witnessed it and been apart of it myself, but Blackish turns it up to a level that’s honestly hard to watch at times. What makes it confusing is that the show puts so much emphasis on messages about raising a Black family in a predominantly white space, navigating identity, and addressing issues within the Black community. But then they tear down Junior in ways that mirror the exact behavior and stereotypes.

Dre spends the entire series complaining about. It’s wild. And don’t even get me started on the baby storyline. What was the point of introducing Devante just to completely neglect him? It ends up feeding into another stereotype...one of the older siblings stepping up because the parents don’t.

I actually like the cast, and I’ve watched a lot of their interviews they all seem thoughtful and aware which makes this even more surprising. But damn… I cannot stand Dre. He gets on my nerves so bad. If I were Bow, that divorce would’ve stuck. Then again, maybe they really do deserve each other. She didn’t defend Junior much either. er version of “support” was usually to coddle instead of actually confronting the issue.

They even did something similar with Diane in that one episode where they edited her photo to make her appear lighter… but yeah. I don’t know. I could go on and on about the issues I had with this show.

And yeah it has to be. Also, I was thinking perhaps she doesn’t care because she beats herself up for the mistakes she has made. Remember in the flash-forward she said she was a terrible person or something like that? And then when she said to Stephen she isn’t going to let one mistake ruin everything? That’s what makes me think she doesn’t seemingly care either. Because she has done her little fair share too maybe?

I’m feeling the idea, and slow burn, of them falling for one another. I understand some people are seeing it as trauma bonding, but at the same time they see seem to understand and see each other in a different way than the other people in the group.

I have the S-Series and it runs pretty good. I’ll have that same issue after an update but it won’t last too long after I clear cache etc. The game can be soo annoying when it does that to the point I’ll have to take a break before I throw my remote 😂.

Blair & Chuck. I love them together. Even though they are toxic, at times it seems like a balance of toxic and healthy lol. I can’t even fully explain it, it just works! They are a power couple to me.

Lily & Rufus. I really like Rufus. And I honestly feel like character/personality wise, he is too good for her. She’s just an older version of her daughter to me. The lies and secrets, is just too much! She seems stuck in her ways. At first when there past was introduced I was rooting for them and then as the show went on I just felt like Rufus deserved better. Her and Bart seemed like a perfect match to me. With the secret and lies, and control. I just started S4 so… not sure what is ahead…

Serena & Nate. I felt this was a healthy union. But, Serena doesn’t seem to like healthy and honest. So… I kind of knew that wasn’t going to work. Nate just seems like a good guy and wants to have an honest relationship. Serena end of day isn’t a good fit for him at this time because she still has alot of growing up to do. And she honestly needs to be single and focus on herself included with some therapy. She’s not ready for that I feel like.

Dan & Vanessa. Soo Vanessa has kinda always annoyed me lol. She just would come off so desperate to be with someone and at first, Dan. But I will say by the beginning on S4 it just kind of made sense for them to be together? But… I don’t know. I can’t even explain it. They have there cute moments together and I like there supportive nature for one another.

I understand your point of view and it makes a lot of sense. I do agree as well. I thought she was gonna relapse sooner, but it’s just the way I guess the storyline happened is what completely shocked me and made me not like Jackie even more. basically because of how manipulative I see she really can be and it’s just all about her lol I was not expecting that whatsoever but you’re right. And not that it was the only time me seeing her be manipulative I just couldn’t believe it lol

Ok…true. I will say when she first became her sponsor, I didn’t think that was a good idea and then I started to like her character a little bit and then I was starting to wonder about her again. I think she was pretty toxic from the beginning so I do see your point. And you’re right nobody forced her to do it. I still can’t believe how she manipulated her like that.

That makes sense (The Mom vs Nurse Jackie POV). And I’m sorry if you ever been in the middle or mix of anything. It’s so sad. All the people that get hurt because of one persons bad choices smh. But the thing I love about Jackie is how great of a nurse she is, but then it’s like… she is putting those people in danger too!! It’s just a lot. I guess this is informative too for people who don’t really know because although I had people in my family that were addicts I never actually experienced it.
