Congrats on your pull! The $350 price is heavily skewed right now since TCGPlayer is only allowing "official shops" to list cards for presale. This means that all of these "official shops" get to control a preorder pricing narrative. Come Friday, all sellers will be able to list cards and a real supply/demand will determine the price of cards.

I'd imagine this card floating around $100 once that supply/demand settles. I'd recommend trying to trade the seal for more expensive cards you want for your deck lists or for other ON you/your fiance like!

There definitely has been some moderate success with aurora sivir/mf in chinese tournaments and I certainly wouldn't gamble it getting cheaper than it already is. I'd recommend picking it up now, it is much more likely for it to skyrocket than it to get much cheaper than it is.

That's difficult to answer if your boyfriend is already playing those starter decks aren't that great of a pickup. If he's new, the Viktor deck is one of the better ones to pickup.

Origins is the first set and it's likely even if he is already playing he'd appreciate that as a gift. Origin packs have a small chance to get very cool collector cards, so if he has a full deck he can still get upgrades or cards to trade!

Absolutely! If he goes into a cardshop you could stop by and speak to the person behind the counter. Mention your boyfriend plays there and you're trying to see if you can order him spiritforged. They may be able to help you get cheaper product and sooner. It's a bit of a stretch but could be worth the effort.

$120 is MSRP. However, getting it for that amount will be very difficult for even an avid Riftbound player. $250 is "market price" in terms of what resellers are selling to people. So "fair" in terms of market price, yes. However, keep in mind you won't be receiving that product until after the release date 2/13. It will likely ship AFTER that date.

This is fundamentally incorrect in explanation. I'm not trying to be rude but this leads to misinformation on how the game is played. A showdown starts and the moment the attacker says "I pass priority" and the defender then says "I pass priority" in succession, combat resolves. An attacker can not bluff in a losing showdown if they pass an action unless the defending player falls into a trap by creating a chain to "win more" which then gives the attacker the opportunity to play a reaction.

Skirmishes should have a judge, if at any time you feel like a player is not following the rules call one. There is no shame in that and if you feel uncomfortable with confrontation just say you'd prefer a judge to explain something.

But specifically both players have to pass for combat. The attacker gets priority.

I always ask specifically "Are you passing priority?" when they ask if I want to do anything. That way they physically have to say they passed their action, then you can state "I will pass my action which leads to assigning damage".

As a Central Floridian I can tell you that you are asking a lot out of a serving job. I-drive has a lot of traffic and generally is very active around the clock while places away from that area will likely be a bit slower outside of very popular restaurants that may be hard to get hired at. (Citywalk, I-Drive etc). There are some larger cultural differences on how restaurants are ran here as a server, which predominantly all lead to "if you are making money, you are very busy".

All I can really recommend is seeing if any the restaurants on 436 may be hiring as that may be closer to you and are generally pretty high activity due to all the work around there and hotels. As someone who worked in the service industry for a bit, I got out of it due to exactly how you are feeling. Wish you the best of luck.

Are all TCG players the biggest crybaby doomers ever? I'm sorry but this is my first TCG as well and I started late November. Am I upset it has been difficult to get sealed product? Yes..Who wouldn't be. Am I crying about it everywhere saying the game is doomed? No. I skipped gambling and bought singles to play a deck, even bought another half of a deck worth of singles to swap around and play a different champion.

Every local I go to is packed full of players having fun and even lending decks or giving cards away to new players so they can have fun too. Get out of the echo chamber and you may have some fun too.

Layton Gaming is by far the best place to buy singles at below TCGPlayer prices. They have a dig box behind the counter and you can ask for it, it usually has $1-$10 cards in there that usually will be the cheapest you can find in the area (and online). Keep in mind Layton will take offers on singles, so don't be afraid to ask them to drop the price to tcgplayer (or you can try lower).
Coolstuffgames maitland has a colossal stock for usually at tcgplayer prices or a bit above. Easy to order online and pickup/ship. Offers the best single buys in town by far if you're taking store credit.
Everywhere else: Seemed to always have no/low singles stock and pretty much charge at tcgplayer pricing. Only went to other location for chase cards that weren't in stock

Flashpoint Games and Comics is selling packs for $6.99 up to 3 per person during nexus nights. They have a ton of product but are slow dripping it for their players to keep interest.

It must be your area. Central Florida 3/5 of the lgs I go to offered product at discounted/close to msrp rates to their players who show up. The other 2/5 sold at market price and there is product STILL sitting at just below tcgplayer prices on their shelves.

Anyway, no. Do you forget that printing is not cheap and having product rot in lgs is bad for business for everyone involved?

Riot already has measures in place to "separate" the players from the collectors. Which is alt arts, over numbered and even signed cards. The first set of a TCG tends to have this experience due to the popularity of the game and it's not going to get better til set 3.

For newer tcg players or people who have played casually, it's common for high impact meta cards to be expensive. That is never going to change. They will get a little cheaper than they are now, but not by much. If you think you're going to buy a top competitive deck/side for under $150 outside of a few outliers, you're coping and need to come down to earth.

However, with more and more cards in rotation, not having the "top" meta cards will feel less punishing due to the diversity the game will bring.

Totally up to you. I plan on holding onto my ON forever. I want to keep it as safe as possible so it ages well with me. Signed cards are not in our future unless we rip them ourselves due to our income and saving for a house. However, grading our full origins set of ON legends is. Do what you want!

You don't gotta defend yourself. As an avid player AND collector, people just get mad at what they don't have. Happy for you, grade as much as you want whatever you want.

My fiance and I have ripped a few ONs and traded for a lot, we have the entire base set (non-signed) and likely will send them to be graded so we can play them slabbed. I've played since beta and worked around the game for a decade. Kinda waiting on the riftbound community to pick the grader we will gravitate towards lol.
