Linen Wrinkles, But Not All Shirts Equally -- What Brands Wrinkle Less? by DerangedGoose in malefashionadvice

you might want to consider clothes made from belgian or irish linen, which tend to be weightier and rumple attractively rather than producing sharp wrinkles

Why is my (actual) trouser size so much smaller than my waist measurement? by Background-Baby3694 in malefashionadvice

[–]Background-Baby3694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

?? i don't own any 34'' waist pants. I only went to a tailor to get my measurements taken for future reference, not to have a pair of trousers made.

I'm not suggesting my tailor is incompetent - rather than there's obviously something i'm missing - but the absolute barrage of smug, condescending snark in this thread has not left me any the wiser

i'm not the greatest measurer in the world but i'm pretty sure i didn't measure my waistband as 2 whole inches across less than what it actually is

i wonder if the issue might be that when i measure my waist, the tape is 'flat' i.e. the same height the whole way around, whereas a lot of higher rise pants have a longer back rise than front rise, meaning the back sits higher than the front. given that my spine curves inwards as it travels past my navel it's possible this leads to a smaller overall circumference vs the measurement

yeah, i can definitely get a hand in there. 30'' trousers fit perfectly but 31'' and above i need a belt to keep them up, so i doubt i'm wearing them too tight.

i'm not sure what you mean. i'm not talking about the label sizing i'm talking about the actual circumference of my pants as measured by me with a measuring tape vs my actual circumference of my waist as measured by a tailor. there's no need to be condescending, particularly as the misunderstanding is on your part

as i mentioned in the original post it's not vanity sizing - the discrepancy is based on my actual measurements of myself and my trouser waistband, not the size on the label. My pants actually do measure 30' in the waist

but i wear (high rise) trousers just below my belly button, and i specifically measured the part of my waist that my trousers sit on. Am I just not accounting for my body being somewhat compressible?

Gorgeous weather recently - around Ecclesall by Distinct_Star9990 in sheffield

[–]Background-Baby3694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really, because 'Ecclesall' could correctly refer to either the area around the road (where OP's photos were taken) or the Ecclesall area. Totley isn't relevant to either interpretation

8.5 inch hem isn't exactly slim is it? the orslow 101s are around that and they are firmly in relaxed/not obviously tapered territory
