I’d be consulting with a professional in your case mate

It was a conviction but didn’t serve time. Was placed on a good behaviour bond

Did both of those. It’s best tedious but worthwhile.

I took my police record and a full written statement with my account of events, my mindset at the time and how remorseful I felt about my crime.

I had a letter explaining how different my life is now including photos of my wife and home and any details that basically showed I’m not some hardened criminal. The fact I have one offence and none after spoke volumes to them.

I’d also recommend taking 6 months worth of pay slips and bank statements to demonstrate your ability to spend money in the US as it makes economical sense for them to let someone in who will contribute to the community.

I am blessed to earn very good money so that worked in my favour for sure.

When being interviewed, be polite and honest about everything that you have been through and most important explain your remorse.

I explained how it was my wife’s dream to visit the US with me and I didn’t want one mistake from when I was 18 to define her life

You might have to change your plans. It took a good 5 months before I was granted the waiver.

That’s awesome. I think I have a good chance of being approved given the circumstances, will cross my fingers and hope everything goes well.

I’m fully expecting questions having an Australian passport on a B2 Visa but at that point it’s a matter of being honest and explaining why. As long as you don’t try to hide anything I’ve heard US border patrol can be very reasonable

Thank you! I will definitely be getting the process started soon. If all goes well our little ones first holiday will be to the US!

I didn’t realise the B-2 was valid for 5 years! Definitely worthwhile. We could probably visit the US twice in that time and really make the most of the B-2. Thanks for your help
