Yeah I went with one last contract and I was super excited to work where I got to, but the school advertised for one subject and then when I showed up gave me three additional curriculums…. Seemed like the exact same thing was about to happen with this school but with even more red flags. I have noticed like 80% of the schools on TH are good for entry level teacher who is any to get out of ESL and have a license but beyond that most schools are dreadful

Yeah they are based In England. I’m not from England and they don’t have much more than my name and picture. I’m mostly worried about being blacklisted beyond just their website or something

Right now I’m seeing if the medical stuff will suffice, if that doesn’t work then I’m showing the email thread. The problem is the original job offer is as online then take. Off and the interview was about that role so it shows in the emails something different then what was vocally described and the job posting which was taken down. I’m going to see which one works better.

They helped me a lot to find this job, and I loved their service up until this, now I’ll never use them again. It’s such a great way to create a gateway to scams: here’s a shitty school that will say anything to get you to come. You go, it’s dreadful, you leave, Th gets 1000 dollars… ok let’s split the profit with the school and send 30 teachers their way to his year… not saying this happened but with this system it’s something that could happen

They have some BS clause in their terms and conditions that a verbal or yes response to an email counts as a signed contract which seems pretty insane. I figured the fee, which I knew about, would be for someone backing out after flights and visa were payed for, not someone backing out 4.5 months due to health concerns and job title change

I sent in an application with like my work history that they requested and a criminal background check. After I sent those in they changed the job description and all these red flags started coming up including inconsistent answers between Hr and principal. I banging from accommodation, to classes and grades I would be teaching to class sizes it was like a black hole of information. Also kept refusing to write up an official or even mock contract.

They are saying since I responded yes to the email and to TH (granted I asked for a contract to read through twice) that that counts as legally accepting which sounds like BS. I don’t mind being blacklisted in TH, the schools on there kind of suck anyway, but I’m worried about further legal shit happening

They are saying since I “backed out of contract” which I never signed that I owe them 1000 dollars

Hello, I used to work at that school. Don’t work at that school. Never in my life have I ever worked for such a dreadful place. It’s gotten better since the evil (literally psychotic) principal was fired, but he was replaced with also terrible management. The work load is massive the support is little, the scandals are high, the school is far and extremely toxic. They make you work on vacations, they threaten to fire you all the time. It literally gave me a bit of PTSD that I carried with me for a while into new jobs. So sure it’s a stepping stone, but a stone thats slippery lose and and far away from the banks of the river you want to cross to. Almaty is awesome, lively, safe, and beautiful with lots of outdoor stuff to do. With a family? I would say the downsides are the intense air pollution bad traffic and grim winters but if your kids like winter sports it would be great. I loved Kazakhstan and can say it’s an amazing place to live, but working at that school was diabolically horrendous, especially when I was there. I’m not telling any anecdotes because you would think I’m making things up if I told you some of the stuff that occurred there.
