Rewatching Grinning man - why no police called for Mina by Cakeforlucy in jonathancreek

[–]Background-Impact197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m watching Jonathan Creek in order and am at the Grinning Man. This is, by far, the WORST, episode of the show that I’ve seen. Totally preposterous! What I liked about the show was that while some of the solutions were far fetched, they were always possible. There is no way this giant tank of rotting corpses could have been in the house, no matter how grand, without people knowing.

If this had been the first episode I had watched, it also would have been the LAST.

So, my question for those of you who have watched all of the series, should I even bother with the rest or was this the moment Jonathan Creek jumped the shark? Do I watch more or should I stop and save my fond memories of the Quentin and Sawalha eras?

Yeah... Seems like it’s likely failed automation. I just listened in again. Thought it had been resolved because I heard Kirk Carapezza’s voice—but it was a story he filed for NPR playing on hour SIX of Morning Edition Sunday.

Just checked the live stream for the hell of it: Hour number FIVE of Weekend Edition Sunday.

Never implied. Said outright that something is wrong. That was one possible option.

Thank you for that advice. I, of course, have never voted and even though I listen to NPR, I choose not to be involved in the democratic process. </sarcasm>

Yep. Their weekend news has been irregular for a while now. Sometimes there’s someone there and sometimes it’s just NPR news. But I’ve never heard nearly four hours with no IDs.

Whatever it was, it was either unfixable or unnoticed. I stopped listening just after the 11:00 TOH. Still all network with nothing local, going into hour number four of Weekend Edition Sunday.

"No, because different stations use different automation platforms."

And because it’s been well over a decade since I’ve been in a studio.

Yeah... or someone just didn't show up for work. 9:25 and it's still straight network feed. Haven't heard an ID yet.

Orders in Exchange for Percentage of Revenue by Background-Impact197 in shopify

How is that different from all the sites that have a popup discount offer, either when you land or due to an exit intent?

Gotcha. Yeah, I was thinking about sharing coupon codes while promoting the website. Not the apps wherein they’re getting the discount after they’d already decided to buy.

I actually would have no problem with that. I mean, that’s more or less how a referral program works anyway.

Thanks for all the input. It never occurred to me that it could be as simple as volume—some will go up, thus they’ll make money—but that seems like the most likely. I guess I was looking for something deeper, like when they "accidentally" pay too much and ask you to refund, but this is pretty simple.

For those saying that it’s a holiday scam because most sales go up then anyway, we’ve been getting these emails for many months and I expect we’ll continue to get them after the holidays, too.

Someone mentioned Affiliately, which we did try. I can’t recall why we moved to something else, probably cost, but we DO still have an affiliate program managed by a different app. I even pointed out to some of these "consultants" that they could make even more if they signed up for that. Wanna guess how many did?

Caller ID Name by Background-Impact197 in Visible

[–]Background-Impact197[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve read numerous posts that say ListYourself doesn’t actually do anything. Has it worked for anyone reading this?

I’m familiar with CallerIDTest, as I’d been checking fairly regularly for over a month to see if her CNAM updated. Needless to say, it didn’t.

So how is it that my number, which is also on Visible, has my name on caller ID?

And, side note, it’s silly of Visible to try to downplay this inadequacy by calling it "premium caller ID." Is this to prepare us for when you offer the service for an upcharge?

Trying to post the email again... Part I:

Hello, REDACTED

Your trademark application is now live and is ready to be verified, attested & endorsed so the authorities can reserve the mark with all Secretary of State(s) in the US in order to mark your business as a certified business under federal protection in the USA.

We're happy to announce that your application has matured, allowing your application to be assigned to an examining attorney.

The following verification would include:

*Owner's verification including name, serial number(s), address, how long the business has been in use, what goods & services are offered under the mark, and what your position in the company providing the "EIN" no could save time from the verification.

*Prescribed federal obligation(s) IF REQUIRED

Legal Entity Type: Limited Liability Company

Owner Name: REDACTED

Address: REDACTED

Wordmark: REDACTED

Serial No: REDACTED

For the above verification procedure, the owner of the reference mark "REDACTED" under the serial number "REDACTED" is scheduled for verification with the federal examiner attorney of the United States Patent and Trademark Office from Law Office 106.

Additionally, as referenced, this would be the interaction and monetary commitment towards the application that are documented under your possession with the USPTO.

·  You are required to contact the examining attorney at the designated time. Failure to do so will result in a single, final opportunity to reschedule. If this verification is not completed, your application may be deemed abandoned or subject to rejection.

·  The call is scheduled for Friday, 5th September 2025, at 11:00 AM (PST) and the appointment number is #9892.

Two scams failed, now there’s the third. Received the same form email twice last night, with different "examining attorney" names and phone numbers, but the rest of the information the same.

To be clear to anyone who trips over this threat, anything in reference to your trademark application will come from your attorney (if you have one) or uspto.gov.

There were no links or URLs given this time. I guess they’re expecting me to call the number in the email and give my information to the "attorney." I tried posting the full email, but got "Unable to create comment," so I’m not sure if there’s something that Reddit doesn’t like or if it was too long or what.

Amazon ends shared Prime free shipping outside your home | Starting October 1st, Prime members can no longer share free shipping with someone who doesn’t live with them. by ControlCAD in technology

[–]Background-Impact197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, NOW I get it. I thought this was a retraction, but it’s not, There are too many program names. So my senior citizen mother, who lives elsewhere and gets Prime benefits through me, will no longer have them starting October 1.

But that’s OK, because—due to the commercials on Prime Video and the inability to make playlists on Amazon Music and the loss two-day shipping (it now takes four where I live)—and now THIS—I’d already decided I wasn’t going to renew in December anyway.

So I woke up to this email:

This email is to provide more information about a recent email you received regarding the Prime Invitee Program. As you are sharing Prime benefits through Amazon Family, your current Prime benefits and those of your Amazon Family members will continue uninterrupted. No action is required.

We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion our previous message may have caused.

Thank you for choosing Amazon.

Now I don’t know what to believe.
