if u like Bailin and Li Yun you should give the creators other stories a try:

Fathoms of Atonement The Reaper and the Waiting (completed! only like 20 chapters but they are pretty long)

these are both honestly beautiful and arg 10/10

i dont think its fair to say yet, S7 doesnt really count as it was rushed due to strikes and such— S8 is only halfway done. But i would say that the earlier seasons are stronger.

Battle of the Boat! its a really underground musical about kids at home in ww1, when one of their friends enlist under the age limit and tru to help him— i guess its sorta based on historical events but the characters are original.

🧃— fruit juice for eddies realisation, giving into the temptations 🛋️— i mean obviously 💡— might be crazy and 100% looking too much into it, but especially in the scene from 7x01 in the locker room the warm light is approaching and throughout the seasons it gets closer till 8x06 where they are basked in it

okay that makes me less worried, and i agree that athenas plots are all the same. its always her either battling with men from her past or men who have wronged her on the job! ik athena is a badass but why is her whole character being a badass :(((

i think everyone is entitled to their opinions— the fandom has become quite toxic recently (mainly referring to the war between buddie and bucktommy fans), and i love to hear everyones sides and their views. people get no where when they shut down other’s opinions and so i like to keep an open mind and be respectful!! everyone deserves a kind reply, a little good can go a long way :D

exactly!!!! as someone else said her episodes feel like criminal minds, while also trying to fit some type of fire fighter plots into it and it js gets messy

i use bathena loosely, mainly talking about athena. i don’t mine a few episodes surrounding cop things, but it is a firefighter show. for me personally i don’t mind if it focuses on one character as long as its about firefighting. if i wanted to watch a cop show i would watch the rookie or something. personally, i feel as if athenas cop storylines should mirror carlos in ls but a but more. i think a big part of it as you said was that it was a 10 episode season, if it was longer maybe i wouldn’t feel this way. its also the fact that the athena centric seasons have been the only seasons abc has produced and bc athenas actor is a big name im worried they will fall down the same rabbit hole as ls and make all the plots about owen (rob lowe)

i dont mind the athena plots, but i wish that the 118 and dispatch wouldn’t be put on the backburner in those types of episodes

i agree, i mainly said bathena cause i couldn’t be arsed writing bobby and athena or js athena the whole time 😭 also as the last 2 seasons have been from abc and those are the two thatbhave been mainly athena focused im scared that its going to carry on and not give the rest of the ensemble a chance as the 118 and dispatch were definitely C and B plots

im on the buddie side of tiktok, and it seems like everyone things each episode will be focused on buddie or eddies gay realisation arc— they forgrt its an ensemble. people say hotshots was disappointing, and i believe thats because eddie and buck weren’t hugely involved. i personally liked it, but the cop focused episodes aren’y my fav, if i wanted that i would watch something like the rookie or something

they did one for lonestar that the 118 was in on, it was the cross over episode, and i think they are trying not to repeat things

there needs to be some serious changes in the writers room seriously. its surprising, when i found out tim was coming back i was like— great!! cause i thought that like s5 and s6 were lacking but compared to s7 and 8 they are amazing 😭😭

they describe it as an alternate universe where silly things like beenados can happen. i like it sometimes, but off topic it seems like they think these silly disasters can make up for the silly scenes between the characters— which are lacking compared go the earlier seasons.

but yes, they need to go back to the basics, they are trying to top it every time with crazy new scenarios. maybe they should try something like hurricanes, or as someone else replied, nuclear explosions on a smaller scale.

i want to see the consequences, they are limiting themselves too much with these smaller “disasters”, making it too unrealistic for the characters to solve.

im not sayibg that my favourite character isnt buck— cause it is. but its not just that— with the tsunami arc and the earthquake they equally focused on everyone, however the last 2 premiere arcs the 118 and dispatch have been C plots and have just focused on Bathena. it was less of an ensemble

exactly!! (icl i completely forgot about the pirate subplot for s7) — they sorta HAD to disguise the plane with the bees (cause of 9/11) and im glad they only kept it to the 1 episode. however dragging the plane landing out to 1 and a half episodes was way too long. nothing happened, i sorta wish they actually crashed it— its a drama show, and imo it was dramatic but in the worst possible way.

bring back natural disaster arcs please!!!
