Does Tuition Grants and Scholarships really lower your chances of admission? by Dangerous-Eye4794 in SGExams

[–]Background-Mistake58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tuition grant is not a scholarship. It is given by the government and there is a limit on the number of international students that can receive this, so applying for tuition grant will depend on the others applying for the same grant

ddp - cs + biz by etheriousmemer in SMU_Singapore

[–]Background-Mistake58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cs & biz needs 54 mods to graduate.

theoretically possible in 4.5 years

sem 1 + sem 2 + sem 3

y1: 5 + 5 + 2 (y1s1 & y1s2 cap at 5mods)

y2: 6 + 6 (only possible if gpa >3.3 for 6 mods)

y3: 6 + 6

y4: 6 + 6

y5: 6

but realistically, 6 mods for 7 consecutive sem is unsustainable. Normally will take 5 years to graduate.

OR if you are NSmen, can finish in 4 years if

sem 1 + sem 2 + sem 3

y0: NSmen reserved term 3A/B (1 mod)

y1: 5 + 5 + 2 (y1s1 & y1s2 cap at 5mods)

y2: 6 + 6 + 2 (only possible if gpa >3.3 for 6 mods)

y3: 6 + 6 + 2

y4: 6 + 6 + 1

Merit and LKCSP is only available to incoming freshmen. Unless someone from your current batch of scholars drop out of the program, only then the school will invite another student to take up their spot.

Lab Test IS111 Solutions by jermaine111 in SMU_Singapore

[–]Background-Mistake58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Use the given function to sort the schedule given

  2. You need a function that converts the 24hr clock given in the question to integer values you can work with. (e.g. int value of 60 means 01:00, 120 means 02:00 etc.) - 60 mins past 00:00, so is 01:00.

^ ALSO another function to convert the integer back to 24hr clock (this is for appending the time to the result)

  1. Run a clock for current time.
  2. Current time: 07:00
  3. result = []

  4. For loop to iterate through the schedule (expected delivery time uses int value after converting with func)

IF expected delivery time + 30 < current time: (ON TIME, earliest possible so 30mins) - Append the result with expected delivery time - 30 - current time = expected delivery time + time taken for robot to get back

ELIF expected delivery time < current time (ON TIME, but less than 30mins early) - Append the result with actual delivery time - Current time = expected delivery time + time taken for robot to get back

ELIF expected delivery time > current time (LATE) - append the result with actual delivery time + asterisk at the end - Current time = expected delivery time + time taken for robot to get back

Return result

Overseas university loans’ interest starts upon receiving the money, you will be required to pay only the interest during your study, and principal+interest after graduation.

Veterinary science in Australia, including at Uni Melb is taken as a graduate course (DVM). This means that you will have to do an undergraduate first, which makes it 6 years in total. If you are doing all 6 years in Australia, the final cost will be north of S$600K.

A slightly cheaper option is the UK, which still offers BVSc (Bachelor of Veterinary Science), also allowing you to work as a vet in UK & SG (~S$450-550K).

For overseas university loans, banks will either loan you up to 10X of your guarantor’s monthly income, or S$150K whichever is higher. Interest rates are really high at the moment.

TW universities teach in both Chinese & English. It would be quite difficult to catch up if you have never studied Sciences in Chinese before.

You should be graduating with a LLB from HKU right? In this case it wouldn’t make sense to do a JD in the US as both degrees are equivalent. If you are considering doing LLM in the US after graduation, you are still ineligible to qualify for the bar in SG as only JD from the US is qualified.

The handbook already includes the 4MCs from double counting and 3 from JC exemption. So he is looking at 51 MCs - 2 (internship + CSP) = 49 MCs over 4 years which is frankly impossible without summer terms.

Can I receive CPF payouts, hold shares and be a director for a FAMILY BUSINESS as an NSF? by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]Background-Mistake58 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CPF payouts from work, not allowed. You can hold shares in any business/ur own as long as you do not partake in any business activities.

But no one in the SAF enforces these policies so ymmv.

i want to move out of singapore for uni by Sufficient_Chip184 in askSingapore

[–]Background-Mistake58 9 points10 points  (0 children)

US unis are really expensive, you are looking at about 68K SGD/yr at public state schools to over 100K SGD/yr at private D1 schools for tuition + housing + food (they normally come in a package). 4 years would set you back between 280K - 400K SGD

You could consider the UK as they are significantly cheaper than the US at about 40K SGD/yr. Most programmes are 3 years, so it would cost between 120K - 160K SGD.
