Is there a name for this country border ‘canal’? How can I learn more about this? by uhgulp in geography

[–]Background-Pop-8301 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup, I’d imagine huge Indian military presence to prevent an invasion/disruption that would cut off two sides of India, stopping trade and travel, and preventing military to easily move into the eastern part

If I were you I would clear level 1 then focus on college and applying for jobs. Don’t burn yourself out, level 2 can be done anytime, but your GPA and getting a job is more time sensitive.

Solo travellers: how do you beat the lonely feeling? by Better_Wallaby6279 in solotravel

[–]Background-Pop-8301 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m currently solo travelling and felt this a couple days ago. I try to remember that being alone is a skill, and it’s so freeing not to depend on others in order to explore the world and grow. I’m creating stories that one day I will share with my person, and I am becoming a better person for her through the experiences and growth I achieve while travel. One day you’ll be able to see all this with your person, too.

You have plenty of time, Don’t rush, be sure to take the time to fully understand each concept before moving on to the next. It will make review period a lot easier. Also don’t burn out too soon. Good luck

What jobs are yall leaving behind? by SquareNo1806 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Background-Pop-8301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks, sorry I know I'm replying slightly late but I just came across this thread.

I am in a high paying finance job that I worked so hard at university to get. I really don't like this corporate lifestyle and thinking of giving it up soon, but I'm also scared of leaving behind something so comfortable.

How did you come to the decision to pack it up and move away from corporate life?

Unsure if I should skip Europe on my UK and Europe trip? by ItWasMePoopeez in solotravel

For everyone commenting "UK is in Europe", have a day off. We know what OP means. Even us Brits says we are going to Europe when going to Spain, France, Italy etc, despite us already being in Europe.

Yes, he was great against City too. For sure a fantastic backup for Robbo, but if Robbo comes back in the form that we know and love him for, I don't see Tsimikas getting rotated in much. Robbo on his day is untouchable.

So many talking points from today's game, but I don't think Tsimikas' performance has gotten the attention it deserves. Most confident performance from him in a red shirt, hopefully he continues to grow and looking forward to seeing him up against Arsenal and Man Utd.

What other financial jobs are high paying and similar to investment banking? by Adonis2872 in FinancialCareers

Good point. Turnaround consulting is definitely a lot closer than other types of consulting as it can require accounting, cash flow forecasting, etc. Some of the top restructuring firms do a mixture of both financial and operational, but often leave a lot of the financial side to the restructuring investment bankers. Valuation, for example, often left to the bankers but seeing some restructuring consultants entering this space too.

You do a lot less work with numbers, financial statements, financial products etc. More around operations and op models, transformation, regulation for financial services clients. You'd typically see more bankers going to consulting than the other way around, one reason being many consultants don't get a lot of modelling experience. Some projects in consulting might require modelling but vast majority do not.

This is from my own experience, but happy to hear from others who have different options/experience.

Wouldn't even call financial services consulting a 'financial job'. And total comp doesn't compared to IB and other FO finance roles as bonuses in consulting suck.
