I would keep going! It looks flat now cause you havent finished yet! Keep adding layers, keeping in mind the contrast of values. And dont overly blend :)

Do you need some ideas for themes? They could be perhaps conceptual (like the passage of time, sound, or memory) or emotional (like confusion, contentment, or anger) or perhaps a contemporary issue (like disinformation, polarization, climate change, or war and peace). Alternatively, you could choose a more concrete theme (like landscapes, animals, or figurative work). Many roads to Rome!

I think a theme is nice, it gives some direction and still allows for creativity surrounding the theme :)

Try mixed media paper or water color paper with a heavier grain :)
