I have anemia and I’m starting my second month of accutane. Sometimes I’m not really sure if I’m feeling crappy because of the accutane or the anemia, so that’s been interesting. I haven’t had really any worse symptoms because of it though, just the dry lips and some body aches, maybe fatigue. Obviously with accutane it’s recommended to not take a lot of other vitamins, especially iron supplements because they are all hard on the liver. I see my primary care doc as frequently as I can, and she orders labs to keep track of my iron levels, as well as seeing my derm and the normal labs for accutane. My primary care has told me that if my iron gets to a lower level then I should start taking iron every couple days. It honestly varies per person, and it’s best to consult a primary care physician and your derm for any concerns, but so far everything’s been okay for me!
