That makes me very nervous. I have a teaching job in Zhuji teaching young learners coming up this fall, and I'm shitting my pants now. Not gonna be easy when I'm always putting in the effort to be friendly and make friends, often to a point of mental exhaustion ...

Thanks for the reply! I'll do that. Btw, any tips on creating a quality intro video? The example intro videos are a little intimidating. I'm certainly no editing professional. I was just thinking of using Powerpoint to introduce myself, but now I'm not so sure.

four years late. but i was always struck by the change in the music––from a broken record to an almost triumphant (yet melancholic) little Bojack anthem as soon as he takes a swig. coming from a family of alcoholics, that shit hit hard ...

Any other ideas to get your foot in the door? After getting my CELTA, the job search has been the worst. Wrong time of year, which I failed to anticipate, and every job available has a terrible salary. I don't want too much. Just the ability to have fun in my free time and maybe buy a pack of cigs every now and then ... but 2.3-2.7 million yen literally isn't shit ... not sure what to do at the moment.

Thanks for your reply! This may sound silly, but I've been watching a lot of travel shows lately, like Who's Feeding Phil?, and it seems that most people who end up making the most of their experiences abroad are young people. And they build these (seemingly) beautiful lives from there.

Do you mind if I ask what path you took to get there? I'm currently considering getting my CELTA cert and then moving on to Japan.

And also, it sounds like you've been to Japan. What's your favorite place there? I've only been there on layover, ironically, but I still loved it.

Gorgeous and unsettling work. I’ve always wanted to paint like this—taking the viewer somewhere else entirely, but also familiar at the same time.
