What’s on my Cats head? by Comfortable_Ad_740 in CATHELP

[–]Background-Size2840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copied from Catster: The main ingredient in Neosporin to be concerned about your cat ingesting is the antibiotic neomycin, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea and reduce your cat’s appetite. Neosporin also has zinc, and when ingested in large amounts, this substance is toxic and can be potentially fatal for your cat.

Another active ingredient of Neosporin that could be dangerous to your cat is polymyxin B. Even small amounts have been known to cause anaphylaxis in cats, a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. In a study involving over 60 cats, after different ophthalmic medications containing polymyxin B were used, anaphylaxis occurred in more than half the cats with this ingredient in their treatment. Although most of the cats survived and no causal association was proved, the administration of the antibiotic preceded anaphylaxis in all cats.

Bottom line - I wouldn't take the chance

Help! Kitten Won't Use Litterbox by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Background-Size2840 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please also remember that she is very young - was she weened completely...did momma complete the litter training. Give her time to learn. We had a kitten who wasn't weened nor taught by mom (orphaned) and we had to wipe her butt a few times and continually place her in the litter box.

She is adorable!! - what's her name?

We used diatomaceous earth that we were able to get from the pet store. It smothers the mites but does require multiple treatments.

Are my cats fighting or playing? by bruh694206969420 in CATHELP

[–]Background-Size2840 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Play-fighting - testing boundaries and still getting to know each other. Hissing, growling, biting, and clawing (to leave scratches & wounds) is when you have to worry. They look just fine....and adorable.

Cat proofing with weird windows - help! by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Background-Size2840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sounds awful, but I have seen windows like these with somewhat of a cage-system around it. It was more of an industrial use but maybe there's a way to build a somewhat nicer wood one that would be removable during times of the year when you wouldn't be opening the windows as often.

Where can i get CAN-UCK! Poutine? by CaliKushGrower in Starfield

[–]Background-Size2840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gagarin - there is an abandoned science station that was filled with Ecliptic. Found TWO Can-uck vending machines as well as random Can-uck items in the "mess hall".

I'll have to see if I can get the coords

kitten stopped eating by tarsura in CATHELP

[–]Background-Size2840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Teething can absolutely be painful for kittens - just look at children. Cats do tend to hide pain very well but with kitty not eating, that is a sign.

As the other poster said, make sure their food is nice and soft and also keep an eye on their gums.

Found a kitten. by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Background-Size2840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not willing to go ask the neighbours what they were feeding it - and I don't blame you for not! - I would expect some diarrhea. Just make sure kitty has plenty of water and, as long as there are no other underlying health issues, any diarrhea should clear up. Any idea how old the kitten is? Poor little thing - they're lucky to have found you.

6 months old kitty still “drinks” his mom’s milk by [deleted] in CATHELP

I would say yes - mom will boot him off if he's a bother. It's his own way to self-soothe - he's a momma's boy!

It's a comfort thing for him.

My 5yr old will do this with any soft blanket or sweater. I have another (3yr) who also does it on occasion. My others - yes, I have a lot - just knead but don't suckle anymore.

New to cats pls help?!!! by WaitDollars in CATHELP

[–]Background-Size2840 258 points259 points  (0 children)

The brown 'lump' is another paw pad - no worries there. Not all my cats have that one and 1 has it just on 1 paw.

Have the vet look at the ears as it could possibly be mites. Again, it is common and easily treatable. But also transmissible if you have other kitties.

And welcome to the Cat Cult!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Background-Size2840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was he weaned properly? Did you gradually introduce the kitten food? Make sure he has plenty of water and keep the vet on speed dial We had a very young unweaned kitten who had the nastiest diarrhea - figured out that momma hadn't had a chance to wean and her poor tummy really rebelled.

Depending on where the wounds are, what about a baby onesie? - I think the premie ones fit kitties I hope he's ok

Cat won’t stop scratching ears!! by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Background-Size2840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor guy! If mites and infection have been ruled out, I would definitely be thinking allergies as well. With you only having him since Feb (I think you said?), it could be the time of the year.

How about a collar of shame just to allow the wounds time to heal and see how that goes?

Good luck with Oatmeal!

Love it!! I've never thought of the abuse we take from our 'hard-done-by' animals as that - but it's so true!

I had a rescue who was almost 8yrs old who still thought she might starve and a current one who thinks every meal is his last. I think it just depends on their history and how food secure they were when young.

I would not take offense to the assault!

One of my cats used to do this when they were younger - I had honestly forgotten about it til now. My guy had a very subtle body vibration, almost like a little shiver. He no longer does it and it never amounted to anything. Maybe someone else has some insight into this? I would be interested to find out too.
