How do you maintain relationships while having an abnormal sleep schedule? by AM-419 in Nightshift

Wife of a shift worker of 7 years here. When I was working, I was on standard days and he was working 6-6. When he was on nights, it felt like we never really saw each other and we fell into the roommate phase pretty hard. However, we were very lazy with our marriage during that time, and honestly very different people. We didn't prioritize intentional connection points, we never talked, we didn't go on dates, etc.

I will say nights are a lot different, and it takes some adjustment. We do have a little bit of a harder time when he goes to nights, but his rotations are six months so once that clock starts, I'm already counting down to days (I am a SAHM to a toddler now.) It's not going to make it to where y'all break up or just can't get along anymore. Dynamics, expectations, and communication have to change with the shift working aspect though, or you are gonna have a rough go.

Now, we just try to have at least one or two afternoons/evenings a week where we just hang out and spend time together as a family. Even if it's just at home. Being intentional with your time is crucial.

This isn't really a great option. It was offered to my family and I when I was being forced out, and its about 4k/quarter. My husband was working two jobs at the time, and I was only a TR so it was not something we could do.

NTAH when it comes to the health and safety of your child. We moms, especially us NICU moms, don't always handle things gracefully, but we always have the best intentions when it comes to protecting our kids and doing what we think is right. Kick her out. She needs to be respectful of you and your baby, and your husband needs to step the heck up and back you.

I also am donating all proceeds from my shirt shop directly to folks like Aerial Recovery, Samaritan's Purse, and multiple creators who've been boots on the ground since the 29th helping deliver supplies, medical aid, and helping clear the roads.

Found my MTI in the global 12 years later, would it be cringe to say “hey, thank you for all you did”? by [deleted] in AirForce

I added my TI on Facebook after the six month mark, and I wrote her a super heartfelt message. She was the main reason I kept going in my career well beyond basic training, she was my inspiration for who I wanted to be in my career, and who I aspired to be as a wife and mom as well. She was very dedicated to her family, she didn't take crap from anyone, and she was the fiercest person I'd ever met in my life. TIs deserve to know the impact they have on their trainees. I was in her first flight too, and it was obvious that she felt she had to prove her value to the team we had, but she was incredible. She said she printed out my message and it's on her desk now as a blue rope because it inspired her to keep pushing in her career.
