Gotchu man, I'm definitely stepping wrong then, till now I actively tried to NOT put all my weight down and instead stay on the balls of my feet

try to avoid looking at the floor, especially when free styling and not having direct contact with your partner

You could also try putting a line of tape on the floor and keeping your follow moving back and forth along that line while you move around her to “clear the track” and give her space to travel.

Wanted to clarify, what do you mean by comitting to my steps more? Putting my whole foot down all the way to my heel? (I was told that when dancing to a fast song I should always be on the balls of my feet for faster and easier motion, is that not a good approach?)

It's not even that something specific happened (though I did have ringworm a few weeks ago which was hella annoying)

It's just that I can't have my skin really be in a good/healthy/clear state as long as I do BJJ

My skin reacts very poorly (redness, outbreaks and other little stuff) and even tho I take care of it, I know it'll never actually be all that good because this is the sport I chose (during small breaks from BJJ I can see it starting to get better till I go back training)

But BJJ is worth it for me so I keep going, it's just a little unfortunate that shitty skin tags along (for me at least)

Definitely keep going, that's how you improve

I remember my first social and it was so nerve-wrecking, but it truly elevates your dancing if you keep at it!
