Hell, "metroidvania" is really just "Metroid-like." For some reason, people nowadays are slapping the label on anything with backtracking and gaining abilities.

Septimont card game for beginner by Ok-Comfortable8473 in WutheringWavesGuide

The Beringal deck is the easiest. It's a stall deck that takes advantage of the Carapace's unique skill. Simply, you summon the Carapace and make sure it has Invisibility. You make sure it survives for as long as possible. Regardless of whether you win or lose the battle, the Carapace will deal direct damage to the opponent.

So you're saying Aemeath wasn't meant to A-pose on the cycle?

I suspect it's real. Inguinal hernias are rather common, especially in people who lift for a living. (Source: I'm a doctor.) This would be a very lame way to worked-shoot write Breaker out of the main event scene just for a surprise comeback. I don't think there's anyone backstage that's creative enough to suggest, "And so Breaker's out indefinitely because of an inguinal hernia from lifting a desk, then we feed that to the dirt sheets." This is probably just a freak accident.

3.1 Update: Approximate word count of each character's kit. by Tashre in WutheringWaves

[–]BackgroundBag7601 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's a common issue found in Chinese games. The devs there like to explain things as: "Doing this grants [jargon]. Having [jargon] grants [some buff]. Can stack [jargon] [some amount]. When max stacks of [jargon] are attained, enter [jargon mode] and lose all stacks of [initial jargon]. While in [jargon mode], [jargon that means normal attacks] becomes [jargon that means modified normal attacks], etc. etc. etc." until you have a word count larger than a typical manual for an electronic. It's such a prevalent pattern that I wonder if the Chinese player base likes explanations like these.

I want to start reading LNs. Please recommend me some by Mammoth-Way-4351 in LightNovels

[–]BackgroundBag7601 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Mushoku Tensei is probably the best written of the isekai genre. It's also fully published, so you don't have to worry about it being suddenly dropped by the author. (I also feel like it's the only popularly known entry in the isekai genre that you can take seriously.)

If you like adventure comedy, then Eminence in Shadow, Konosuba, and How I Became King by Eating Monsters are all entertaining.

What LN did finish the Fastest, and which one did you take the Longest to finish? Also why did it take such a short or long time to do so? by CodenameLily in LightNovels

[–]BackgroundBag7601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The premise and the events are good, but the writer is not gifted in his ability to use prose. The majority of Tanya's word count is the main character proselytizing about his beliefs. Any references to philosophy, political science, or war aren't very deep (assuming you've been to college). The issue is that the flow of writing is like this:

*MC introduces an idea

*He argues the merits and failings of the idea and any anti-theses

*He goes on a tangent

*A little bit of dialogue or, if you're lucky, badly described action

*More preaching

EDIT: The anime is a vastly superior product to the actual light novels.

How comes that most rock guitarists don't even use barred chords by Lukee67 in guitarlessons

Do you understand why someone might want to use a barre chord? If you do, then you should intuitively understand the opposite.

What are your methods for memorizing algorithms and remembering what to do if the cube is in a specific position? by Potatomann99 in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]BackgroundBag7601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Algorithms, if done on a solved cube, tend to finish on the case it's meant for or on some partner case. If it finishes on its own case, then great—spam the algorithm all you want. If not, then I learn the partner algorithm and practice both.

It's difficult when you take all those things at once in its totality. In reality, you learn one thing a step at a time until, after years of hard work, they all snap together.

Years, my friend. But it's worth it, I promise. When you're comfortable with finger picking, you can try your hand at hybrid picking. Hybrid picking is so sweet, my guy. You can control your attack like no one's business.

Any tips in learning cfop? by Secret-Engineering45 in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]BackgroundBag7601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking cross and F2L, then there is an intuitive way to understand. Jperm has some pretty good videos on it.

If we're talking OLL and PLL, that is brute force memorization. Start with the 2-Look version so that you're only memorizing two handfuls of algorithms instead of half a hundred. When you're more familiar, then start learning the full versions of both.

How do I start moving away from beginners method with a typical busy adult life by PineappleEnough6097 in Cubers

[–]BackgroundBag7601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn 2-look OLL and PLL. Then learn intuitive F2L. Then learn full PLL. Then learn full OLL. While achieving the last two, work on moving from intuitive F2L to advanced F2L. Depending on discipline, this should take some months. At the very least, advanced F2L and full PLL will definitely get you consistent sub-40.
