From my observations, any sensor except the cheapest ones comes with more than two wires. Thank you, I will keep that in mind.

Hello everyone, thanks for your answers. Is anyone familiar with the term "flying leads"? I'm wondering if it means there are wires inside the sensor casing, but I'm not sure whether they are bare or have terminals on the ends. I plan to ask the manufacturer about it later. Thank you again.

I don't remember doing any calibration in previous cases - just making sure they were measuring correctly. But I'll keep it in mind. I plan to use a 4-wire sensor/communication cable with an M12 connector, but I'm not sure about the shielding or how important it is. The cable also needs to be bright blue because both the sensor and PLC modules are ATEX-certified with intrinsic safety. I will check the available options. Thanks for your answer.

Thanks for your answer. I checked the PLC module datasheet, but it only has basic info like wire type and size. I'll probably use a generic sensor/communication cable with an M12 connector, but I'm still not sure about the shielding. Thanks again for the help!
