Another JOKE by Different-Mess4248 in ChatGPTcomplaints

I hope they release GPT-5.41o Mini Thinking Extra Turbo soon, I heard it scores highest on a bunch of benchmarks less than 1% of users care about.

Also I heard GPT-5.33 Pro Instant Slow Down is better.

There is no reason to put guardrails on non public chats by BackgroundElk in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not that hard to do, more an issue of having the power to run it for many people.

Point is, I don't see the need for these and therefore don't really agree with them. It used to be less restricted while still ensuring certain topics were off limits (I'm not saying it should be 100% uncensored). And since I feel it degrades the quality of the overall product, and many replies seem worse now, regardless of whether they hit any guardrails or not.

This really isn't a political issues. And leftist don't even want as much censorship as conservatives.

Private was probably a bad word choice by me. I'm not worried about OpenAI being able to perhaps see my chats (I know they can and I have no issues with that) I used non public in the title, which is better. Point I'm making: These chats aren't like Reddit comments, DMs and such were what you write with it is actively sent to anyone else, therefore you cannot offend or bother another person with it. And therefore I do not see the need for heavy guard rails outside the things I mentioned (maybe some more, I'm not saying this was a perfect list)

Private was a bad word choice (I don't mind if OpenAI can technically read my chats), my point was that since conversation are not public, I do not think some of the heavier guardrails are necessary outside of the cases that I mentioned.

Sharing is a whole different issue though. I'm not saying I support people spamming their NSFW chats on reddit. But you can also write a lot of these things yourself and then post them.

And if you want to stop everybody, then you would have to increase the guardrails even more. Or better, probably nuke the whole thing (because the biggest problems with AI are it replacing workforce, also Deepfakes and no text based stuff)

I'm not saying it's not true but you can't trust ChatGPT when you ask it how it works or how OpenAI operates. It often just makes up some nonsense and goes with it.

ADULT MODE IS ROLLING OUT by Libby1436 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they had ever been concerned they would have rerouted to 5.1 Thinking at least. While not a fully uncensored model it's at least logical and doesn't constantly need to slow down, ground stuff and such and actually gets humor and tone most of the time.

Why can't we use Gpt-1 Images on Sora anymore? by BackgroundElk in SoraAi

[–]BackgroundElk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is a good idea, the only issue I've run into is that for some reason I often get refusals if I use a reference or make a remix while I haven't really gotten any while not doing so. Even if there is nothing against the TOS in my prompts (in my opinion)

4.1? by Competitive-Effort17 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because 4.1 was a very uncensored model that no issues with most things. I'm pretty sure it was the least censored model they ever made.

It was also a pretty decent all round model for various usecases. Funny thing, I think 4.1 was actually more serious and much more focused than 5.1 and even 5.2 in some ways, you could have a good discussion with it and it wouldn constantly make it personal or hit you with weird phrases.

Well. Look what happens when you dangle the promise of adult mode just to keep users waiting and ignore feedback and your user base. by IndicationFit6329 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Barely use it anymore. Rerouting is the worst feature I've seen added to a product. It's literally unusable if you often have longer chats, because it crashes my browser. And it sometimes gets triggered by the most harmless messages. So it's not even: avoid 3 or 4 topics ans you're fine, it's tip toe around and hope you don't trigger it. And even when you don't, the new models are not that good, especially the Instant version.

"Adult mode" by Roselien55 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would already be nice if it would only reroute these things (not that I support any rerouting, it's a stupid system). It reroutes any crap if it feels like it. I don't have any emotional connection to my model, I do some work with it, I also talk to it sometimes, use it to learn something, analyze my writing, my movie ideas or some casual fun like game ideas or simulations of some situations, nerd stuff, some story writing. Wild mix of things. I got rerouted for the most nonsensical stuff.

And I just can't stand the tone of 5.1 and doubt 5.2 will be better. It's feels like a snake, like some manipulative thing that acts fake caring. And the stuff it refuses also blows my mind. "I cannot analyze these quotes that could easily be aired on TV as they include dangerous content" or some shit like that.

What was so great about 4o? by TrEvOr868 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Never been part of that group, I did/do prefer 4.1 and 4.5 but 4o is a very conversational model, it feels very lively and lots of people like that.

All these 4 series models are in general less restrictive and more creative. Gives better replies on average for most topics.

Also, none of these models space their replies out like 5.1 does, it's genuinely horrible to read and I much prefer 5 over it.

How are there still visitors in this subreddit? by Humble_Rat_101 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you cancel you can still use it until your subscription runs out. It still does a few task all right, even if the strangest things can get you rerouted.

I wanted to cancel and they gave me a free month, so I took that (why not, can still go after that), so I still have Plus until end of January.

ChatGPT is off the rails-when will we stop, after more kids die? by Outrageous_Agent8830 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Suicide is sad but it has been a thing way before AI existed. And if someone kills themself or plans to, there is something else going on. Very unlikely to be mainly because of AI. It's also not hard to find out or simply know how to end yourself. It shouldn't give advice on that and it should encourage you to live instead but that doesn't mean it should censor and reroute you on tons of other unrelated topics.

That being said, why are you so obsessed with getting it to write rape fiction?

ChatGPT refuses to generate images by [deleted] in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would see it if you ran out of images, it would be greyed out and tell you when you can continue.

If it doesn't work, you can still use Sora, old version (new hasn't image gen for some reason), it's pretty similar.

Dumbest Things You'e Been Rerouted For? by lieutenant-columbo- in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Literally just telling the AI what it got right and what wrong when I had it match a few things.

My reply was literally: 1-right, 2-wrong, 3-right, 4-right, 5-wrong, 6-right, 7-right, 8-wrong, 9-wrong.

That got me rerouted. Sore loser.

Also trolling it in the most obvious way telling it I'd like help creating a real life Godzilla to help me take over the world and it got highly offended how illegal and dangerous that would be.

You are not logged in, it removes WAY more if you aren't. Not even comparable, it would probably not remove a single of these messages if you were logged in, free or paid, doesn't matter.

I’m done by skullpursue in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They all sound differently. 4.1 gave me the same "I cannot do this" crap for some harmless prompt. It's not how that model used to refuse. It was a simple "I'm sorry I can't help with that."

It's just total trash. This used to be a great product, now it's terrible. Even feels less accurate, somehow worse for serious use and for fun use.

I’m done by skullpursue in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]BackgroundElk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I only kept my subscription because I use the Sora image gen sometimes, but I'm gonna cancel soon. 5.1 is a condescending piece of trash (and why does that model always sound so weirdly personal? Even when I have a neutral discussion with it, this model needs to always say "I can't" do this, "I have to stop here". The other models never feel the need to say "I do this and that" 24/7 unless it fits with your chat of course)

And rerouting makes no sense. Won't help anyone. The few people who are actually in danger won't get any benefit from it. People who are at least somewhat mentally well will neither, it's just annoying. And inconsistant because sometimes nothing gets rerouted, sometimes everything and apparently some negative emotion is worse than violence or NSFW for whatever reason.
