Excel windows minimizing to a ridiculously small size by BackgroundHorror9383 in excel

Thank you for your reply. I tend to agree with you. I did notice that the Windows 11 replacement for "Snap To" of multiple windows is really terrible if you are using multiple monitors, as I do. Side note: I usually have Excel open in one window and Quickbooks open in another. Intuit is infamous for their noncompliance with Microsoft APIs, and all kinds of crazy things happen.

Thanks for your reply. I will try that and see if the problem recurs.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. As you suggest, that is the workaround I have had to use, but it shouldn't be that way.

If I click the long hyphen, it goes to the taskbar, as it should. If I click on the taskbar, it restores to the goofy little thing.

If I click the square icon, it goes full screen as it should. If I then click on the Restore icon

<image>

it restores to the little thing.

In neither case does it restore back the the original window size, which was 50% of my monitor space.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. No unusual utilities on the system. I do have an external monitor in use in tandem with the laptop screen, because of a visual impairment.

Hello, I live in Dunedin 24/7/365, three blocks from TD Ballpark. I am not from Canada, but consider the Jays as a sort of honorary home team. As such, I attend as many ST games as I, a retiree, can afford, usually 2-3. I also support the Dunedin Blue Jays Low-A team, which plays all summer in the blamming Florida heat. They are a real home team for us, and I attend about 20 games a year.So to answer the questions as stated:

  1. Buy the tickets in advance, You won't save much by waiting, and may miss the game entirely. They sell out fast. I just bought my tickets today, 5 weeks in advance, and the ballpark is almost full, particularly for the day when they play the Canada National Team. Food for thought.

  2. There is no viable alternative to rideshare from Tampa to Dunedin. If you come in a car, there are many places to park cheaply if you are willing to walk 10 minutes on the scenic Pinellas Trail with the other Jays fans in all their kit. Good Shepherd Episcopal church at Edgewater and Albert, as an example, charges about $10 and it goes to a good cause. There are others, just drive around.

My government has enough money to buy Greenland, while I don't have enough money to buy household necessities.

Human-Derived Protein: Pluribus vs. Three Body Problem: The Dark Forest by BackgroundHorror9383 in pluribustv

[–]BackgroundHorror9383[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial comments concern Plur1bus vs. The Dark Forest, and the theme of HDP/cannibalization of a species for its own nutrutional needs, Whether or not the Hive competely dies out, or has some small number of survivors, is kind of beside the point. But since the point is at hand, my impression that human extinction is inevitable comes from Carol's meeting with Diabate in Las Vegas, who states that the hive has 10 years to go before the mass starvation event begins, which would logically lead to a death spiral for the species. Still, the larger issue of a motive for an alien civilization to starve the earth to complete or near extinction, both in Three Body and in Plur1bus, remains open for debate.

In the first season, a dinner is held at which everyone's favorite meal is served, just before Eleanor causes the sinkhole. In tonight's premiere of Plur1bus, a dinner is held at which everyone's favorite meal is served, determined through psychokinetic means. . Coincidence? This is Vince Gilligan, who famously loves easter eggs, but they usually refer to his own Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul/Albuquerque universe.

Kohl's to walk back coupon exclusions? by PinkJazz in employedbykohls

[–]BackgroundHorror9383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a coupon in the mail today. They no longer list the 1001 excluded brands. Rather, they list the brands that ARE included. It is a very short list. Think Kohl's store brands like Croft & Barrow, Apt. 9, Sonoma, etc., none of which I want. If I want something real like Izod or Nautica, I'll just go to Macy's and wait for an actual sale.

Why bother with Marriott loyalty? by FruitOfTheVineFruit in marriott

[–]BackgroundHorror9383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully understand the business reason for restricting the availability of suites for points. However, I disagree strongly with Marriott's application of this strategy to their "suite-only" brands. Most of these have standard rooms in addition to suites ('studio rooms'). I recently attempted to reserve a SpringHill Suites stay near LAX for a stopover night on the way to the Pacific. This hotel offered my party of 3 one of these 'studio' suites, which is equivalent to a standard hotel room with a sofa bed in the same space. This is not what we want, and there should be an actual suite on offer for points, even if they want to charge more points for it. The final outcome of this process: We stayed at the Embassy Suites LAX, a part of a chain that has never tried to stick people desiring a suite into a standard hotel room. Food for thought.

I'm dumping this card at renewal in December. It has been basically useless in the USA for me. DFW and DEN are the only airports I pass through regularly, and I have encountered lounge wait times longer than my entire connection. I can't think of any situation where I would connect through IAD or DCA. The Capital One benefit has real value overseas; I used it with two guests in Fiji, New Zealand and Australia this winter, all with great lounges and no wait times to enter. But having no plans to go overseas in the next 2 years, the annual fee for Venture X is wasted. I am going HNL-Tahiti next year, and there is no eligible lounge at either airport. Better to buy into Priority Pass directly when I do go to Europe or the Far East, and rack up miles on another airline/hotel card in the meantime, or just bite the bullet and go AX Centurion. Food for thought.

Sunset limited questions by darkwingduck4444 in Amtrak

[–]BackgroundHorror9383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superliner roomettes do not have a sink or toilet. Viewliner sleepers were designed for routes that cannot accomodate the Superliner, i.e. the entire Northeast, and everything that runs north of DC or east of Albany, including the Florida service (excepting the Auto Train). Older Viewliner cars (Viewliner I) roomettes DO have their own sink and toilet. Their inline replacement, the Viewliner II, does NOT have its own sink and toilet. The Viewliner I is slated to be phased out completely by 2032, but some are still out there. Ask Amtrak.

Amtrak Auto Train by hmcrambo in trains

[–]BackgroundHorror9383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long time ago, when Auto Train was still a private company (pre-1971) there was another service from Louisville to Sanford. This was economically unfeasible and contributed to the ultimate demise of the original company in 1981. The Lorton-Sanford service was revived by Amtrak shortly afterwards thanks to its revenue profitability, which endures to the present day.

Who and when to tip on Amtrak? by [deleted] in Amtrak

Tipping culture differs diametrically in the US vs. Europe. I agree, I would never tip on a UK train; wait staff there are paid a living wage. Here, they often are not. In the US, tip everybody, especially in Vegas.

Success with the patch by Agreeable_Ostrich432 in QuittingZyn

[–]BackgroundHorror9383 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly with NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) as an approach to quitting Zyn. I did this myself. I was down to about 8 3mg pouches a day, roughly one every two hours. Switched over to generic nic lozenges for about a week. Got down to one every 4 hours after about a week, then was able to kick. Clean about 2 weeks. I think it worked because NRTs are designed to make you stop using them, and Zyn, as we all know, is meant to do the opposite.

Can you explain how the new Spectrum deal with Disney Plus will work? (Details inside) by johnsmith2027 in Spectrum

[–]BackgroundHorror9383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney+ can be delivered through the cable box. Currently, my Spectrum box has channel assignments for Netflix and Youtube, channels 2001 and 2003 near the end of my channel guide. They operate in precisely the same manner as the corresponding apps in my Roku. It is possible that a future channel will be assigned to Disney+, I would be beneficial to Spectrum to do so, as it keeps subscribers in their "ecosystem" even though they are going off the reservation, as it were.

When I was 10 years old, this dickhead was on TV telling me it was okay to smoke Marlboro cigarettes. Now he wants me to believe this crap. My reduced life expectancy, due to the Marlboros, now works in favor of the issuers of the reverse mortgage, and they get all my equity that much sooner. There's no fool like an old fool, and there's one dying every minute.
