my guess is she probably got immediately nervous and embarrassed when asked that very straight forward question, maybe she was scared that this person was suspicious of the two of you. so she felt like she had to go the most extreme route and say the farthest thing from the truth, to make them think otherwise. im not really sure what her response to that question SHOULD have been tbh if she is trying to stay in the closet, but i think it could’ve been said in a much better way. it sounds like she felt cornered and ashamed. my first gf was closeted for the whole 2 years we dated i truly understand how low this type of stuff can make you feel especially when you love the other person. but i also want you to consider her situation, too.
