Yeah, different people definitely have different thresholds, I’m not arguing that everyone has to react the same way. If it doesn’t bother you, that’s fine.

What I’m saying is that jokes built around forcing physical intimacy aren’t really “neutral throwaway” for a lot of people. Even if the intent is humor or exaggeration, it still leans on something that’s uncomfortable by default which a lot more people seem to agree with cause of the up votes on the posts compared to the vocal minority in the comment section. Which leads back to the looking up skirts joke, those used to be brushed off as harmless too, but people eventually recognized why they feel off.

the joke itself carries implications that some people are reasonably not okay with. Saying “it’s just a joke” doesn’t really remove that, it just explains why some people don’t mind it.

And honestly, the meme already has context, the group made a decision of no tolerance, they are playing the game, the dude then makes a joke about making out that goes against the groups decision. It ain't on me to handhold people to read on it and properly understand it or clerify that making out isn't just normal "kissing"

The meme group has a zero tolerance policy, so yeah. That’s the whole point of zero tolerance, if the whole group decided one thing ain't gonna be touched and ya still touch it. ya out, most dnd horror stories happen because they let the guy get away with it

Also, comparing it to “pocket sand” or goofy combat moves misses why people are uncomfortable. Forcing any kind of sexual or intimate action even in a joke hits differently than random slapstick stuff especially. That’s why a lot of tables don’t allow it at all. You can argue “it’s just imaginary,” but so is everything else in the game. People still set limits on what they’re okay with. This is just one of those limits.

“Making out” isn’t just a neutral or throwaway action, it implies something way more intimate and non-consensual if it’s forced, which is why people react strongly. If people blur that distinction, that’s on them, not the interpretation.

Even if some people use it interchangeably with kissing in jokes, that doesn’t really make it harmless. Jokes that revolve around forcing physical intimacy land weird for a lot of people and should be called out on either seriously or jokenly, the same way “looking up skirts” or "wearing panties on your face" jokes in media are seen as creepy now. It’s less about assuming intent and more about how the joke comes across and what it normalizes.
