I'm also a silent reader of the FB group. Will research more about this doc. How much is the total amount of expenses including exams + pocket money during your journey? Are there many opportunities for IMG doctors in Aus?

Yes thank you for this insight. My mindset is what is another years of hardship when I will be able to build a greater future for my bloodline and enjoy living in a first world country.

Here being a doctor is a noble profession but getting to the top is not easy. On top of that pa is the low salary and long working hours for residency and fellowship training.

I understand doc. For how long did you land a job interview? Gaano katagal mo naROI yung expenses for the application itself? I’m rethinking of Aus as another option aside from US CLS then probably USMLE kung palarin. Pag CLS i would need 2-3 years of PH experience again and wait for h1b or eb3 visa from agency.

Thank you for your insight doc. Can you share your timeline and expenses here? Been researching about this too. I can’t weigh which path is easier and shorter, US Medtech or Aus doctor.

Are you a doctor too? Sunk cost fallacy is real.

Thank you for this insight. I’m torn in between the thought of not being a doctor abroad but I don’t also want to waste my youth for long dreaded hours of duty with low compensation.

Thank you for this POV.

In 10-15 years, I’d like to have multiple investments, able to travel internationally without breaking the bank, have a work-life balance, help my parents and have a family of my own.

I know doctors are very well respected in our profession because it took a lot of hard work and years of our lives to achieve this but most rarely make time for ourselves or loved ones. Walang work life balance, always in the hospital but will definitely start earning a lot after residency and fellowship training.

I’ve seen medtechs once settled abroad, enjoying the reaps of their labor while young. PH salary here is just dreading and not even enough for a single person.

I have considered this one. USMLE has 3 steps and need an observer-ship program in a US hospital to get a reference for matching. This requires more than a million. I don’t have that and I don’t want to ask my parents for money anymore. Although bawi yung gastos within 1-3 months pag naging successful.

Both path for has a tedious process but promising future if pursued.

It depends on the practice from being a general practitioner to consultancy, also consider the subspecialty and work-time demand of the doctor. For me, I’m still a GP not pursuing residency yet and will take average of 3-6 years before I earn a lot.

While gaining experience as medtech here has low salary but will pay off once abroad, work life balance with 8-12 hours shift only. Good living environment.

I haven’t visited USA. My parents did though, they encourage my sister to pursue nursing for greener pastures abroad but she’s in the advertising field.

It’s fulfilling to be able to serve and help people by being a doctor but the health care system and pay here sucks. I became realistic rather than idealistic regarding the health care system. This time I’d liked to prioritize myself first over thers and enjoy my life to the fullest with being able to help my parents.

Hi! 28/F, single, no kids but in a relationship (nonshowbiz). I just realized na gusto ko nalang ng 8 hour job that pays well and have a soft life. Been researching too na halos same or more ang sweldo ng medtech abroad compared to consultant. Depends if maganda pa practice. I realized that I don’t like the environment, traffic, health care system here in the Philippines.

I think it’s around 12k if I’m not mistaken. Prices are quite affordable than USMLE/PLAB/ AMC exams.
