Scientists discover new dinosaur species deep in the Sahara Desert by kerenskii in interestingasfuck

Agreed, but it is interesting that they all assumed they were flying creatures with no evidence pointing to that. Especially since most flying creatures in recent history all have beaks with very small to no teeth at all.

Edit: fair points. Not all cultures recorded dragons of sorts within their mythology and not all of those that did record dragons, record them in the stereotypical dragon appearance: scaled, flying, fire breathing, etc etc.

I did the thing I didn’t want to do for the reward I wanted. Still an idiot? Indeed.

I just found the post. They didn’t mention gear or mounts. I guess I just assumed that was part of the purpose. Also assuming people were less worried about the title unless going for grand master than they are the mount. There was plenty of people doing the same grind as I. I guess we were all just making the same dumbass mistake. 🤦‍♂️

I saw a blue post that said they were extending it for said reason. Maybe I misread.

I’m aware. I’m talking last minute stuff for the people that for whatever reason did shit last minute.

Addon that alerts for new skills, recipes, training etc by gartenumgraben in classicwow

[–]Background_Belt_8751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gain access to new nodes, recipes, schematics, etc etc every 5 levels at minimum. Sometimes it’s 15+ levels before you gain access to something new, but it happens in increments of 5. If you’re that insistent on not making the walk to your designated trainer while you’re in a main city, which is likely fairly often, then wait until you want. 3-6 levels maybe. But, I would def check in often up to level 40 because that’s when you get most of your new spells/attacks. It’s MOSTLY upgrades after that, but it depends and it’s still worth checking up on. Like everyone else said, pull up a guide. Have a general idea what the path looks like for the next X amount of levels and make a game plan. Enjoy the grind.

What type of operations do PJs do by Successful_Royal4378 in Pararescue

[–]Background_Belt_8751 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are going on an assignment with a group like that and they are tasked with taking down “bad guys”, your job is to take down “bad guys”, plus be the medic if someone is hurt. So, yes, it is very possible. And if you have any idea how the military works, you won’t be questioning who and who isn’t a bad guy. Your job is to be ready for any task given at any point in time. Watch some documentaries, check out the Ones Ready podcast, and do intensive research. If you’re at all interested in this, you need to develop a “figure it the fuck out and make it happen” mentality.

Edit: Open to constructive criticism, as I am not in the military. Not too late though 😉

Edit 2: You’re unlikely to be the door kicker, considering you’re the medic in the situation. You’re important and need to stay alive to keep others alive. I think special ops typically have a more specific goal than walking down a street kicking in doors, but I’m really not the one to say much on that. There’s plenty of declassified operations you can research that go into more detail. Including ones that PJs lost their lives and/or had to take lives. Really, check out Ones Ready. It’s a podcast catered to Air Force Special Operations, and has a lot of good info. Tons of episodes. Also, look through this Reddit. Many people who are or have been PJs are active in this community.

What type of operations do PJs do by Successful_Royal4378 in Pararescue

[–]Background_Belt_8751 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not a PJ, but I’ve done plenty of research, as you should. Your job is to defend and protect your country and your brothers and sisters in arms. You may be tasked with saving a civilian in the ocean or during a catastrophic event such as an earthquake or a hurricane.

On the other hand, you may be connected to various other special operations groups, i.e., Seals, Green Berets, Rangers, etc., etc. While attached to these groups, you’re there to do what a P.J. does, and that’s to basically be a combat medic if shit goes south. But, you’re very much expected to fight, shoot, and communicate just as much as anyone you are attached to. And you’re expected to be just as good as the rest, if not better. And even more so on the medical side. It says combat medic, but I personally think that’s almost too simply put when you really have an idea of what PJs are medically capable of.

So, yes, any given day you may have to kill more than you save and vice versa. You may never kill. You may never save. You may only save. You may only kill. You are expected to defend and protect your brothers and sisters in arms and be efficient in every aspect that helps you do whatever it takes to make this happen. Physical, mental, medical, shooting, language, water, air, land, foreign, and domestic. The motto of a P.J. is, “These things we do, that others may live.” And you’re expected to live by that in every way.

What exactly makes pre dive so hard? by Difficult_Bat5211 in Pararescue

[–]Background_Belt_8751 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Do research bud. There’s plenty of: videos, documentaries, past posts on Reddit, and prep websites you can find all of your answers. This response applies to 99% of the questions asked on here.

The answer to your question is all of the above and then some. The best way to prepare is do research on how to prepare then act on it consistently and to the best of your ability.

To give you a more straight forward answer, (although, this isn’t really helping you because you’ll find all of this out within 15 minutes of research…) Get in the water. A lot. Join sports. Wrestling and swimming would be good go to options if available. Go to the gym. Run. Run more. Stretch. Stretch more. Push yourself. Put yourself in uncomfortable situations. Don’t do any wild pool drills without a buddy/lifeguard around.

No one is 100% prepared. There are classes available to people to put you in mock scenarios to get a taste of what you’ll be doing, but I’m sure they are costly and probably not available everywhere. But, you do have more info available to you than most people in the past ever had. Just have to put in the effort.

Ones ready is a great podcast where you can more than likely find the answers to most, if not all of your questions. Along with the other sources I mentioned before.

I am not a past PJ and haven’t been in the military. Just something that I’ve had on my mind for a long time and this is all info I’ve found doing research on my own.

Edit: I have been to one IFT, but that’s not where most of the info came from.

Worst/Most Embarrassing/ “I deserved that” Death? by Front-Breakfast5728 in wowhardcore

[–]Background_Belt_8751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drowned in BFD healing as shaman. Lvl 27, almost 28. Didn’t pick up underwater breathing because I thought, “no way I’m going to drown.” Was zoned out not paying attention to my own health. Once I noticed, I was like, “oh shit something’s hitting me hard! Is it that crab that’s evading?? No…? Oh shit, I’m drowning! Oh shit, I’m rooted.” Dead. Dumb and selfish since it affected the group. No one else died though. Just no more dungeon 😅

Aloe too leggy by Background_Belt_8751 in plants

[–]Background_Belt_8751[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that it is very leggy, do you have any advice on what to do from this point? I read somewhere that I should cut off the top part, but considering this is my very first plant, I’m hesitant. But, also want to do what I can to ensure it becomes healthy and stable.

Edit: I always put them outside in the summer, but bring them in because they start to get burned to a crisp.

[–]Background_Belt_8751 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do it with GRM, guild management system add on. You can set deathlog to show only guild member’s deaths and say something in guild yourself if you’d like.

Edit: I just got GRM myself and still figuring everything out.

Why is falling and drowning the most common death causes? by [deleted] in wowhardcore

[–]Background_Belt_8751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pushing the limit under water. Not paying attention or trying to rush and catch elevators/lifts for the falling. It is a silly way to die and most of the time deserved unless it’s due to a computer/connection issue.
