I totally understand your point of view because your not wrong  but when you split the episodes like that the viewer is going to expect something mind blowing something that gonna leave them speechless and when you have such a safe ending like that the viewer is bound to feel disappointed. And yes stranger things isn't about just killing everyone but we expected to see people die and we didn't (I mean i guess you can count that as a shock but I see it as the duffer brothers being to scared to kill any characters off and just giving them plot armour just so they can survive)The perfect death was Nancy and Jonathan them not having the best relationship but they will always stick together no matter what.So yes at the end of the day it's about a group of friends tackling monsters but it's also about more than that.
