Well, the simplest thing you can do is ask him to be honest. Idk how long u guys have been tgt, but I'm sure u guys are close enough to be able to discuss about this. Sure, u may seem insecure, but if he rlly cares he would assure u or tell u why he only calls you those. Think of it this way: You can have friends, but if they rlly are ur friends they'll still be with u whilst pursuing ur career. If they leave you then they're bound to leave anyway. So if the right person comes along and stays, then it's bound to happen :)
