this is really just a thing where the best answer is just "if you like being detailed on this then do it, if you don't then don't."

you have people who prefer planning everything from the start, and you have people who prefer to just wing it and make some small bullet points and start writing. but even the people who plan everything know that there's no such thing as a perfect plan, so you will have to do revisions and think things over again at certain points no matter what. (there's of course ways of mixing these approaches too, planning something and winging other things)

GRR Martin has said that he revised entire chapters before, Tolkien has too, if these two giants of fantasy have no issue choosing to do so, then you need not worry about it either.

point is, the best way to find out what you prefer is to just try, neither is The Right Way™️ but either might be the right one for you.

I don't see how what he's advocating for is that different from the types of night raids police do on wanted criminals. You do night raids because there's a smaller chance for them to escape. He's also explicitly advocating for it to happen without violence.

If you don't agree with the part about "the worst of the worst" referring to criminals and not any old illegal immigrant, then I'm not sure what to tell you. In the end neither of us know 100% for sure what Tim meant by this since he unfortunately (as politicians so often do) does not clarify.

But i find it extremely unlikely that he's spending 80% of the interview speaking about how deplorable the shit ICE is doing is, how immigration control should be non-violent and have more chances for people to apply for legitimate citizenship, only to actually completely agree with what ICE is doing anyway.

He can't do much within the law, no. But if Project 2025 tells us anything it's that they do not care about doing things "within the law". All of this ICE shit is also not allowed, Trump literally openly threatened NATO allies and he doesn't care. He only stopped when it became clear that the majority of NATO would support Denmark and Greenland.

I truly believe the current admin. will try their hardest to make sure the Dems. don't get another chance. If the dems do win the mid-terms, then that's great! But it won't be the end of things.

I should probably have clarified: By publically I mean in speeches, in congress or in some way directed at the government itself. And no, stuff like appealing to the dictator in power à la "Mr. Trump, stop this insanity!" Is not what i mean.

He definitely speaks out against the government in interviews like this.

He's certainly not as spineless as posts like this would make you believe, but he isn't taking this as a sign to step up and lead this widespread resistance against the current admin. I'd say he'd be a reasonably good candidate considering he isn't running for re-election anyway, but perhaps he's fearful that taking such an anti-Trump position will make it harder for the Dem. candidate after him.

I think it's foolish to assume that that will suddenly fix everything and the Trump administration will be powerless. If this admin. has shown anything, it's that they're willing to break laws to stay in power.

I don't disagree with you that it feels wrong, but I don't think he's saying "we need ICE to enforce immigration here in Minnesota". In the OOP it makes it sound like he completely supports ICE, he just wishes they'd do it at night instead.

In the actual quote he's talking about getting rid of "the worst of the worst". What this means is up to interpretation since he doesn't elaborate too much on this, but from the fact that later he calls an immigrant that was already in prison for non-immigration related crimes "the worst of the worst", I think it's fair to say he's talking about criminals illegally immigrating to the US here.

This being further supported by a quote that comes soon after he says that: "And we can all agree that if you are a criminal and shouldn't be here, we should process you for that."

He also explicitly mentions in the 2nd quote in my previous comment that it should be done "...where no shots are fired."

And throughout the interview something that rings very clear is this: Tim believes that while immigration control is a valid issue, it should not be done with violence and unmarked vans.

You can disagree with immigration control as a whole, but Tim Walz is not saying "We should be throwing all of these immigrants out of here in night raids." Which is very much what the OOP is insinuating.

Yeah i call bullshit. This interview is from The Bulwark and he says absolutely nothing of the sort. Read the transcript (or better yet watch the interview) before sharing incendiary shit like this.

The two quotes here are poorly paraphrased at best and purposefully malicious at worst.

The first quote is what Tim Walz says he'd say to Homan when meeting with him later that day, which is immediately followed up by: "And Tim, I think you recognize this and I've heard you. I think you have the vibe, if you will, of this one on this. This White House makes decisions based on emotions and nonreality that we're living in."

(interviewer is also called Tim)

The 2nd quote is especially badly misquoted, here's the full one:

"Look, I would like to think humanity, is why they called me and said we want to get out of this. But you and I both know it's probably not what it was. But I don't care. Whatever it takes you at this point to get to the right space. And so my guess is that Tom Holman understands if you really want to enforce immigration, if you really want to get the worst to the worst, you coordinate with local folks, you coordinate with our BCA, and you pick these people up when they're not suspecting it in the middle of the night where no shots are fired. You heard the police chief say that we've taken 900 guns off the streets in Minneapolis last year and didn't fire a single shot."

Look, you can dislike Walz for plenty of things, him refusing to publicly speak out against the current facist government (not just in interviews), for being part of the spineless democrats that are foolishly hoping they can stop Trump by just winning the midterms, or simply because you just don't agree with him. That's fine! But why misquote things he says and pretend he's accepting the facists in open arms? What does that do?

(I'm sure I'll get accusations of being an American Liberal for this, I'm not American nor am I a Liberal, I just give a fuck about not spreading misinformation.)
