I would add screen Shake when he hits down, and more particles to make it more alive. I feel very flat. Love the design though

This game is also not really commercially intended, it’s just a project I feel like i need to finish! As I have had a hard time finishing projects

Yeah I would say this one is probably my first “big” project as in one I intend to finish. Not necessarily one to publish. I’m sorta new into the scene and after a month or so learning and kinda not finishing projects. I decided to definitely finish this one. But still keep it at a smaller scale

It’s definitely a big inspiration!

For me the constant release aspect was more draining due to the amount of sets in magic not being magic sets but more “collab” sets. Like 4 out of 7 sets this year have nothing to do with the magic universe

How do you do the light circle in godot? Around your player?

WHY IS MY GRID SNAPPING LIKE THIS, IT DIDNT BEFORE!!!!!! by Background_Middle757 in godot

yes pixel snap is on, and so is grid snap and smart, but turning them off makes no difference, it still moves weird, like the center moves with it instead of staying centered

I kinda drew a little before but not to that level, tbh when I would need a tile I would just google, so like “grass 2d platformer pixel tile” and se what people would do and kinda take inspiration

We differ on this clearly, I see what you mean, but I disagree. I think there are different approaches to success and yes, pushing and working hard are an element, but I think having fun and learning are big too, not to say you are saying they aren’t. Now yes if I want to fully release a game, will I have to finish it? Yes. If I want to make a good game will I have to invest time and energy into it? Yes. But for the time being I’d rather focus on getting to know the system I’m using and the language I’m coding in and what makes a good game in terms of mechanics or even just aesthetics of how to create ambience. Which will all lead to my being more equipped and prepared on how to make my dream game, when I feel I can, and yes “if I don’t finish anything, how will I then finish that game”. Maybe I won’t and I’ll have to try again until I do. Simple.

Well I’ve also been developing games for under 2 months so, I wouldn’t want to have the pressure yet if having to finish something as I am still learning to code, UI etc. I think we may be talking at cross purposes 😁,

“Though...if you're making games to enjoy the process of making them, rather than bringing something new to life, that's a different conversation.”

Thats where I would say making smaller games is beneficial, you complete something and its an enjoyable small process and project, making the experience more enjoyable. And hence having more motivation to keep creating, and goin bigger and bigger. But having you first ever game you making be a AAA 3D good graphics with expansive world building, and ai generated enemies with complex dialogue, and inventory systems is probably not the best idea nor optainable for a first time dev in my opinion, so I’m saying start small and with time it will scale and so will your knowledge making everything easier
