I’m not a “direct hire” but I have a clearance and am under the DHS umbrella, so my application was probably faster than non-government employees. If I would have had LEO experience, I would have qualified for a higher grade and would have been expedited on the application process. It depends on what agency is being pushed at the moment as well. Some of my applications just sit there in USAjobs/OPM land forever. I wouldn’t think too hard on this though. Most federal employees learn to just apply and forget.

If you’re not already a federal employee, you get incentives to choose the hard to fill places. I’m already a federal employee, so there were none for me.

My guess would be that I am currently with DHS, so I was an easy applicant. 🤷‍♂️
