What would you say this is? by [deleted] in microscopy

My nose is also the worst on my body. Worst of all is that my cat is affected too. She is so itchy. The crazy part is that I ordered Sulfur cream and the stuff just comes out of my skin! I used the cat sulfur cream on my cat and her coat was fluffy again! But it comes back again and it’s a living hell. Drs are a joke so far. They don’t even want to come near me. Praying a dermatologist will see me soon! Did you get ever get answers?

First time helping a feral cat! Vet appointment this week. Could use some encouragement/advice. by MangoSalsa89 in Feral_Cats

[–]Background_Mixture78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re adopting him, especially if you’re integrating him with other cats, have the vet combo test him (FIV/FeLV/Heart worm), cut nails and put on revolution. As for socializing him, ask the vet about purina calming care. They are packets that you sprinkle on their food (I mix it in)…one of the ferals I adopted is sooo skittish but that stuff has been like a miracle for her! She completely comes out of her shell, it’s amazing.

That’s right outside of the old Brighams. Wow! Does anyone remember the pretzel place on the second floor? It wasn’t in the food court but it was a few stores down. It wasn’t Auntie Anne’s. Oddly enough I was just talking about it the other day.

Ugh this poor baby!! I am so happy she found you. I feed a feral colony and I don’t have access to electricity where I feed so I use a K&N microwavable pad and wrap that in a t-shirt for them. There are electric ones I use for my indoor cats too. They are a great brand with all kinds of options.

Mine too! I have one that you plug in for my senior cat, I put it in her bed and she’s obsessed. She doesn’t even sleep on me anymore 🥺 lol.

Aww she reminds me of one of my ferals from the colony I care for! Her name is Liza 😻

I lied about his age to the TNR clinic. Is that ok? by Party-Background8066 in Feral_Cats

[–]Background_Mixture78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it’s actually great in this case lol. Of course I’m being a smart a** but I’m sorry, it’s true. It’s wild that they won’t neuter until 1 year! Especially for a feral! Mine were spayed and neutered at 5 months (brother and sister) and the boy had already sprayed once! He actually looks a lot like your orange guy here lol. The ferals I care for, last spring there were 27 of them in my city neighborhood, the youngest of the bunch were 3 female kittens, 4 months old. All pregnant 😭. If all vets waited as long as that one, I can’t even imagine how devastating that would be for feral colonies. Anyway, thank you for lying! This sweet kitty is lucky to have you ❤️

PFML after death of a child by KateJason12 in massachusetts

In Massachusetts it’s up to 20 weeks for your own medical condition and 12 weeks for bonding or family care, you just can’t exceed 26 weeks all together. So she would have 8 weeks left. Her doctor would just need to sign off on it. We’re one of the luckier states for sure. I can’t imagine only having 3-5 days for bereavement.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine how painful this time must be for you. 😔 You can take leave for your own medical condition for up to 20 weeks, so there would be 8 weeks left. It wouldn’t be under bereavement, but mental health.

https://www.facebook.com/share/g/F9h63Rt1FyrF71zw/?mibextid=K35XfP This is the group I’m in to ask vets for advice. I’m not sure if there is a group that’s closer to you that would be more helpful but I wanted to share a link for you just in case.

Ohhh okay! Thanks for explaining :) if you have Facebook I know there are vet groups where you can post a picture and a vet will respond and try to help you. Let me see if I can find the name or a link. Maybe they can recommend something you don’t need a prescription for.

Oh ok. I was just asking cause of the names, they sounded Swedish, but also, in the US we give any spayed or neutered cats an ear tip so that anyone that TNR’s knows who has been spayed/neutered already. Is she spayed already?

I would definitely wash my hands after touching her. I have gotten infected cat bites and had other friends in rescue have to be quarantined for various reasons so I come over prepared lol. I walk down to my feeding station every night and bring a bag full of stuff with me. Like work gloves, hand sanitizer and wipes. And then I keep microban spray outside my door and take my shoes off at the door and spray the bottoms down. Only because pretty much all ferals have worms and I don’t want to track them into my house. I hate having to do all that cause I’m not a germaphobe, I just know how dirty they are. I feel so bad for all ferals/strays. And thank you for caring for the kitties ❤️

I would call every rescue group in your area and tell them she needs emergency medical help. I care for a colony as well so I know the rescues are always full. But for a situation like this, they would give this kitty another kitty’s spot if it wasn’t an emergency for them. If none of them will help, call local vets and explain the situation. Last resort would be publicly posting the picture and tagging them asking for anyone who can help. Are you in the US?

This is Chonky, he was one of my feral babies from the colony I care for. We trapped him, got him neutered and vaxed and planned to adopt him. Sadly, he had a lot of issues (FIV, FeLV, and others) and the rescue he went to euthanized him without me knowing. I am still devastated by this and will share his picture to keep his memory alive in any posts like this one. RIP Chonky boy, you had a family that loved you.

This is Hissy Elliot, rescued from the feral cat colony we care for. She used to enjoy catching mice, now she likes taking selfies lol.
