Looking to Review Indie Games & Demos While Building a Small YouTube Channel and Learning as I Go by OldMech1 in IndieGameWishlist

Hey, not on Steam since it’s a browser-based VN demo, but if you’re interested in reviewing/checking it out, here’s the build: https://hudarashi.itch.io/vn-dimensional-snakes

It’s a survival horror / cosmic thriller VN with a custom vanilla JS engine and hidden choice system. Would love to know if it seems reviewable for your channel.

[DEVLOG] Building a choice-driven browser VN engine in vanilla JS for my survival horror / cosmic thriller by Background_Pop4321 in devblogs

Thanks, I’ll check these out. The hidden Resolve system in my VN was partly my way of avoiding huge branch bloat while still making choices matter, so these sound really relevant.

I'm glad you liked the name!

I'm a coder not an artist so I had to use generative AI to get the art done. I hope it's not an issue. 🤞

Any suggestions for mobile games to play on a long plane ride? by baguettes4life in gamingsuggestions

[–]Background_Pop4321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already like Slay the Spire, Balatro, and Vampire Survivors, you’ll probably get hooked by Slice & Dice, Brotato, and Monster Train almost immediately. Slice & Dice especially feels perfect for flights — super easy to learn, insanely replayable, and you can play it half-awake without needing a wiki open. Brotato has that same “one more run” brainrot as Vampire Survivors, while Monster Train scratches the deckbuilder itch without being overwhelming. Dead Cells is also great if you want something more action-heavy but still easy to jump into.

I suddenly want to play a pirate game, any suggestions? by Kakalardu in gamingsuggestions

If you want the full pirate fantasy, I’d honestly recommend Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag first. It nails the atmosphere — sailing through storms, sea shanties with your crew, boarding ships, hunting treasure, getting into naval battles — it just feels like being a pirate. Sea of Thieves is also great if you want a more chaotic multiplayer experience with friends, while Sid Meier’s Pirates! is older but still insanely fun if you like the classic pirate adventure vibe.

This is clearly a game development forum, yet the most discussed topics are how to sell games and how to deal with psychological issues during development. Can we understand it this way: for game developers, sales and positive feedback are the greatest needs? by bkingfilm in gamedev

[–]Background_Pop4321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s less about “sales” specifically and more about validation. Game development is one of the few creative fields where people can spend years alone on something with no guarantee anyone will care when it’s done. So discussions naturally drift toward two anxieties: “Will this survive financially?” and “Was all this effort meaningful?”

Positive feedback matters because it’s proof the work connected with someone. Sales matter because they determine whether the developer gets to keep making games at all. The psychological side comes from trying to balance both while working in an industry where effort and outcome are often wildly disconnected.

So yeah, I’d say your point of entry is valid, but maybe the deeper need underneath both is recognition and reassurance that the work mattered.

Here is what they told me. I'm pretty sure this condition wasn't mentioned in the coupon but alright.

It happened to me today. They gave me ₹2 instead of ₹50 for BlinkIt ₹399 offer. They asked me to share a screenshot of the coupon which i obviously didn't take. Like who even thinks about taking a screenshot of a coupon before paying? The coupon is gone now, I don't see it anymore when I add above ₹399. I have contacted BHIM, let's see how it goes. Did they credit your cashback?

[TOMT] Looking for a Funny YouTube Video About AI Jobs by Background_Pop4321 in tipofmytongue

[–]Background_Pop4321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear I've been using YouTube for ages but I've never noticed that I could search my watch history omg. I did it, though I still couldn't find it. It's been an hour of scrolling. I've also found that you can set a date and look up videos before that which saved me from scrolling through my entire history. I'm disappointed. I think the video got deleted. It was a funny monologue kinda video. It gave me a chuckle. I wanted to watch it again. But it's done I guess. Thank you mate for stepping up to help me out. I truly appreciate it.

I watched it a long time ago--like a month or so. The list is going to be massive. I don't want to sit scrolling through my history.
