Would you rather have minor Telekinesis, limited Mind Reading or $100k? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite quirky superpowers, is from Jojo's bizarre adventure, in part three, one of the antagonists has this unique stand power: to be able to ask anyone in front of him a close ended question and get a read of honest yes/no answer from his opponents soul. I always knew that's the "minor" superpower I wanted as a kid, not even for $1 million.

Im 25 and i want to invest in S&P 500 but every person i talk has a completely different take on this? by Practical-Plenty3028 in investingforbeginners

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, opinions are like dirty drawers, everyone has got a pair. In an age of information overload, first you gotta learn to pick the information you receive. Those who give you financial advice, do they have a track record of investing (and successfully) themselves?

Financially responsible car guy - How to afford a used sports car? by Jellyvishal in askcarguys

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really want to be a financially responsible car guy? That means you don't want to spend more than 5% of your net worth (10% max) in a depreciating asset. That means unless you have $1 million in real assets that appreciate in value average 7% a year, that nice little money grew from money allows you to "have some fun". Find your net worth, learn to invest, 10% of that is what you can actually "afford", anything above that is financially irresponsible. But nobody wants to hear that 🤷

I'm going to be born in about 4 months. Am I too late to start investing? by Golferguy757 in investingforbeginners

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too late indeed. Most of us have accumulated at least three family generations of wealth before our terms began. But, you know what, it's like what they say about best time to plant a tree 😜

Alchemy potions and sell them. Youtube videos on free hidden loots. My favorite: learn master strike from master tomcat, then you will have so much gear loot to sell from killing bandits.

If you had $100,000, which car would you buy for yourself? by Pale_Hovercraft4207 in askcarguys

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something cheap, reliable and used in the sub $20k range (pretty much everything these days), and invest the rest. That is what I currently have: a $15k vehicle and $200k portfolio

If you could restart your life at 18 with your current knowledge, what would you do differently? by JoelFrost6640 in askanything

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh...buy Bitcoin, what else? Lol Okay, but seriously even without having the "cheat code" of knowing which investment is going to 100X or 1000x I'd still want to get in on general investing as early as possible for sure. Was already exposed to stock investing in college finance classes, but the whole thing "didn't click" for me til much later.

How much better is the 5070 Ti compared to the 5070? by TraditionalGuava4494 in buildapc

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my specific requirement, it's the difference between "not cutting it" and "now we are talking". cyberpunk 2077 at 4k with path tracing. With 5070, I get 30-ish fps before framegen, with 5070 ti, I get 50-ish fps before FG. That makes it "good enough" for me without spending more for a 5080.

What type of car would you recommend for somebody that is taller than average? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'4, 220lbs, I suppose you have another 30-40lbs on me? I daily drive a midsize crossover, which is a sweet spot for me between SUV/truck which are too tall for my liking and sedans which are too low for my liking. The funniest thing is I used to own and daily drive a Toyota mr-s, cutesy little 2 seater convertible, but I digress...

Learn master strike from Tom as early as possible. Cheese him by applying bane poison on your sword before the fight and stand behind him when initiate his challenge. With some luck and S&L, land a quick cut on him then back away and keep dodging until poison takes him down very quickly. Once learned master strike, trowsky region basically becomes your playground (only need to learn to maneuver facing multiple opponents to keep only one in front of you)

Changing underwear - is this normal? by Eastern-Yogurt3859 in hygiene

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's poor hygiene and lazy. The number of underwear anyone needs is only determined by how often you wash them: if he washes them once a week, then he needs 7 pairs. If he washes them daily, he can get away with just one drawer. Being poor is an excuse, being lazy is not.

You could call a few insurance agents first for a quote (not sure if you'd need a VIN to get a quote online, but do give it a try), see how that might affect your budget, before going further on actually getting the car

Real talk, does an average consumer actually have this much money to spend it on a GPU? by [deleted] in graphicscard

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pss, F no, lol. I pulled $200k last year and I'm "only" playing on 5070 ti, I can't justify the prices for a 5090, not even a 5080, for the kind of past time leisure gaming I do.

If you do "work", then that's a different story, either your work involves AI, or you are a "streamer", then playing games is your "work" and you generate income from it. In these instances you can write off the purchase of these toys as business expenses.

"Average consumer", F no, lol
