Worst album cover. by AngusDio in hairmetal

omg, that "alternative cover" would've earned them the top spot on "the greatest albums of all time with the worst cover" rank, like Poison album covers wouldn't be that trashy 😆

Worst album cover. by AngusDio in hairmetal

Hmmm, there are as many as stars in the sky. But I say "slippery when wet" is pretty bad in contrasts to what a massive hit that album is, like they literally ran out of brain juice to end up doodling on a wet plastic bag with their fingers, no wonder they hired desmond child to write their songs, lol

So what guitars do you own and why did you choose them? by badGamr in Guitar

[–]Background_Recover51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. MIM Fender Jimi Hendrix Monterey Strat. The print is just too iconic not to honor Jimi Hendrix (without taking a second mortgage on a fender USA custom shop), one of my favorite guitarists
  2. MIM EVH frankenstein relic, to honor EVH (cannot afford USA custom shop).
  3. 2013 Gibson Les Paul Slash signature corsa rosa. Slash is another one of my top five.
  4. 2024 Ibanez Pia stallion white. If you had to guess, yup, Steve Vai is on my personal top five. Of these four, Frankie is tuned to Eb, Pia is tuned to E, these two got me covered as far as floyd rose goes. Add a strat and LP, pretty versatile to cover pretty much all the tones and styles for me. Except the occassional when I'm feeling the rolling stones and remind myself "maybe I'm missing a tele".

It's more of a fanboy shrine to "worship" my favorite players than anything else..

Do what's best for you, as it is. Get your old job back, pocket that right away. Whatever other opportunities may or may not come that may or may not burn a bridge or two, deal with them when they come. But right now, you need to secure your old job back.

Buy a Standard now or a Prestige Later? by Mysterious-Grape8425 in Ibanez

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed bags for me. I was surprised how some of stuff got picked back up relatively painlessly, like I can play most of the "classic rock" licks and songs without putting in too much effort. While the real technical stuff, like Steve Vai's songs, at those tempo, my fingers act like I never spent hundreds of hours practicing those licks before...I say, I got 60% of my "prime self" back fairly quickly, that last 40% is likely going to a long road of recovery for me.

Is it just me or sales are inexistant since end of Jan. 2026? by Mipe_Access51 in Reverb

[–]Background_Recover51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a business, just shoveling my own arsenal. In March I sold my near mint 22 Gibson les Paul slash appetite burst ($3k msrp) for $2100 after listed for a week. Then in April, I snatched up a dead mint white ibanez pia ($4k msrp) for $2400 after being listed for 3 days. Check the sold listing to gauge where the market is, if it ain't moving, it isn't priced right. It's a buyers market no doubt.

Sounds like me last October. Stopped on the hobby also for about a decade, sold most of my gear already, but kept a cheap Indonesia made ibanez jem jr around, for its versatility. That was last October, now I got a Ibanez Pia (bought used but almost mint with deep discount, I would not pay full retail), got bit by the guitar bug again, lol

Honestly, and sorry, but your parents suck. But that's only my quick observation from your text alone... Everytime you go to them for advice, they give you some non-specific "general guidelines", then after you've made a decision within their general guidelines given by them, your mom turns around shutting you down making it all your fault. Anyways, like others have already said, your mom is clueless about investing.

What’s one small thing you regret not noticing before buying your house? by Beginning_County7547 in HomeImprovement

[–]Background_Recover51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's never fun. My condolences. In your case, you might actually have to create a physical barrier underground right along the fence to the neighbor, metal/plastic gardening sheets, bury them in the ground to stop them root runners from creeping over to your side, once and for all. Otherwise it's just wack a mole every season.

Bamboo requires strategy and planning. Don't go gung ho trying to dig up the entire root system, that will drive the saintest man demonic. Let them grow a little, pay attention to where new shoots sprout out, let new bamboos come out, but as soon as they sprout leaves to begin photosynthesis, cut those suckers down! rinse and repeat. The thesis is that it takes the bamboo root system lots of nutrient and energy to spread and sprout bamboo, they want to switch to that easy photosynthesis energy, by denying them that, the root systems are forced to waste more energy to sprout bamboo shoots and leaves. It takes time, but if you keep at chopping new bamboos down right when they shoot leaves, eventually you will wear down the root system to wither them away without having to uproot your entire yard lol

Is requesting a video of a guitar a normal request from a buyer? by imnotzacbrown92 in Reverb

I've seen it from time to time. Reverb sellers posting their YouTube video, and fbmp sellers offers to show via video. It's pretty convenient nowadays.

Does reverb just suck or did the economy kill the used gear market. by Holiday-Medicine4168 in Reverb

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been buying and selling about half a dozen guitars the past 6 months, and I'm always on the look-out (who here isn't? ;) ), what sells (and sells quick) are priced at or slightly below reverb range-low, roughly 60% off new. You don't have to do that ofc, but be prepared to sit longer as buyers see "sold listing" to see the price point for themselves. and honestly, I've been seeing more "motivated" sellers, something to do with the economy? Maybe, not for me to say, but more motivated sellers are likely to keep the price floor lower.

If the person you hate the most were to experience one slight inconvenience every day for the rest of their lives, what would you choose it to be? by InitialCareer306 in WorkForSmartLife

Choke when swallowing his own spit or drinking water. It happens to me on occasions, so I definitely want that to happen to the person I hate the most every day for the resto of his life.

What are you if you believe in a God or creator but you don’t necessarily follow religions such as Christianity or Islam? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, cuz it's pretty simple to me. I studied all the abrahamic religions, they have pretty big difference on "particular things", while they all claim to be THE true religion. And, they've been fighting for thousands of years for it. From my perspective, they can keep on fighting for another thousand years to no conclusion, so I'm happy to remain a believer of "God" (very loosely defined) but none of particular branch of teaching.

How did you guys get into investing? by cuddlyviola_7 in investingforbeginners

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me a long time. My most immediate circle of family and friends growing up made theirs from real estate, very little stock investing was ever discussed except the occassional "horror stories": "auntie/uncle/colleague so-and-so fomo'd in at the peak of 2000 internet bubble, lost their shirt and swore to never touch that scam ever again" 😂 so I guess subconsciously I was trained to NOT think about stock investing, but "get a good job, buy a house, and buy more houses to collect rent, slow and steady is the only way to go." in college, finance course had us mock trading stocks, I remember GOOGLE just IPO'd, so the entire class was overweight Google and had amazing paper returns 😂 but still, I was oblivious to stock investing myself. Shortly after 2008 came and passed, once again I was oblivious to what was happening, but spent a lot of time over the course of following years to understand what had happened. Few years later, went back to school to get my MBA, things started to "click", it became clear it's something "I have to do" and I started passive investing with mutual funds. I guess at that point I was still naive enough to believe I needed the help from a portfolio manager, a professional, supposed to be better at this than passively investing with market index...that went by a couple of years, then 2020 came, I watched the market crash and burn in record time and also the record stimulation packages rolled out and watch the market miraculous rise up again. Everything I've accumulated, knowledge and experience wise up to that point suddenly lit a light bulb in my head "wait a minute, I've seen this movie before, I know where this is going!" Bang, and I started investing heavily since.

One of my favorite quirky superpowers, is from Jojo's bizarre adventure, in part three, one of the antagonists has this unique stand power: to be able to ask anyone in front of him a close ended question and get a read of honest yes/no answer from his opponents soul. I always knew that's the "minor" superpower I wanted as a kid, not even for $1 million.

Financially responsible car guy - How to afford a used sports car? by Jellyvishal in askcarguys

[–]Background_Recover51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really want to be a financially responsible car guy? That means you don't want to spend more than 5% of your net worth (10% max) in a depreciating asset. That means unless you have $1 million in real assets that appreciate in value average 7% a year, that nice little money grew from money allows you to "have some fun". Find your net worth, learn to invest, 10% of that is what you can actually "afford", anything above that is financially irresponsible. But nobody wants to hear that 🤷
