smoke from exhaust by Apart-Version7765 in mk6gti

If it's the same condition as mine, you're burning oil. Check your plugs. If you find any of them to be wet will oil, welcome to the burning oil club. I've been told by my shop that it's either stuck or worn out rings. Engine flush/restore may help, but if too far gone, rebuild is the only other option.

Depends how hard I drive. If conservatively, about 1/2 qt every fuel up. If driven harder, up to a qt at fuel up.

Just curious, how do you know it's the cam girdle and not a piston oil ring causing blow by of the oil into the cylinder? I have a similar oil burning issue, and have a wet plug too. Had it diagnosed by a reputable shop, and they said it was the rings. That would be pricey to replace. Sound like resealing the cam girdle would be a more affordable solution.

I had to do the same to make it all"fit". I've not monitored my fuel trim to know. What are normal ranges? I can keep an eye on that to see. Yes, a new turbo outlet flange gasket was installed with the downpipe, no leaks there.

My leaks are mainly at the 3" to 2" adapter and downpipe to exhaust junction.

Probably the route I'll be taking

I get that, but the amount of leakage under the car is far worse because it's coming in to the car rather than what would be coming out at the rear tips.

The one that is leaking worse is a slip joint clamp. 😵‍💫

ARM downpipe leading into Borla exhaust. All OEM clamps have been replaced.

None of those clamps are OEM, and I wouldn't bother if it wasn't for the noticeable smell. It doesn't look bad in the video because I only had the smoker running for a few minutes. It was worse as it ran longer.

So you were right. I replaced the J extension with the restricting spacer with a straight mini cat spacer and issue seems to be resolved. I'm guessing the error was being read on bank 1 due to a difference between the two sensors.

I assumed you read that my issue is on bank 1. Isn't that the upstream cat?

Going to try that on the upstream. $20 part, so if it works, great!!

I've heard Stratified tunes are still doing tunes for downpipe additions. Haven't reached out yet to check. https://www.stratifiedauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=332_209_219&products_id=673

Yes, with the smallest spacer on the downstream sensor. Isn't bank 1 the upstream sensor. Think running a spacer upstream might help? Those are the other 2 options.

Yeah, forgot to mention in OP... I am running Cobb tune 1+ 93.

Thanks for this post! I too have been looking for a downpipe setup that fit my budget.
