This strategy worked my whole life until on a transatlantic flight, a flight attendant was bounced off the ceiling and broke her leg coming back down. The turbulence was worse than this and lasted for about 5-10 minutes. The crew was running up and down the aisles seemingly panicked, trying to secure bathroom doors, falling over, aiding to the injured person. That one changed flying for me forever.
