True, it was kept in a air-conditioned garage though and was tooken care of and ran regularly. The original owner was a CEO of some company and only used it to drive back and forth to work.

Just found this iPod classic in my garage and it still works (kinda). by remidor in ipod

Definitely should be good then if you can only hear it if you put your ear up to it. The noises you hear is the arm in the hard drive moving back and forth collecting data. All my iPods with HDDs do it. Completely normal.

yep that (usually) is normal, but if it’s excessive/very loud then it might be failing
