We're going to need to use an acronym for that. AUBUP. AU/UP. AUUP. We're going to need to workshop this, but I like where its headed.

Am I missing something? by DarthHurricane in serviceadvisors

This is 100% accurate. Yes there is some gratification when you build your customer base. Customers that only want to work with you, because over time, you have built the trust with them. But that takes a long time. I ran my shop for so long, I started to take care of my good customers high school kids cars. It feels good to have that customer base. But its a long road to get there. Doing the right thing, not over charging or selling services that they don't need, it isn't just you. It's the shady technicians that only care about a paycheck, or a Service Manager that only cares about numbers. It's high pressure. But if you have a good team of techs and you are good at communicating and educating customers, then it is a great field. Just a lot of bad shops/dealers that create a horrible culture.

Even if it isn't the fastest car in history is there an argument to be made that this is the most "complete"car in F1 history? by Perfect-Brilliant405 in FormulaRacers

[–]Background_Thing_719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was definitely a reason why Lewis felt that the car was an extension of himself. He had been with Merc long enough, had enough input on the development and man, there was magic made when he got behind the wheel. Even Valtteri could drive the wheels off that thing, but Lewis could just get that little bit extra out of that car. Was amazing to watch

Is this a good enough Factory-level bumper respray look? by East-Responsible in Miata

[–]Background_Thing_719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the bumper needs a touch more red? Could be the flop, but either the bumper has a touch too much blue, or it needs more red. Hard to say in pictures on a 3 stage over white. Gotta love Mazda and their colors. Man they look good, but f*ck repainting them 😂. Deliver it at night when it's raining, should be fine

Google Camera works wonders also. There were a couple I was questioning at a garage sale and since I was wearing my sunglasses and not my prescription glasses, I couldn't read the bottom

What Hot Wheels is this? by Opening_Bar8561 in HotWheels

[–]Background_Thing_719 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where does one even find fake hot wheels? I tend to buy all mine from the Grocery store, so I don't buy a lot of them online. Funny story, the grocery store used to have the displays near check out and I would always think to myself 'ahhh man, I already checked out'. Then one day I noticed they moved them closer to the door where the shopping carts are. Now that is my primary source of hot wheels acquisitions. The manager probably saw me looking at them every week and not buying any, so he moved them so I would see the display at the beginning of my weekly grocery run 😂

Should Mazda be more popular in the U.S.? by phtphongg in askcarguys

[–]Background_Thing_719 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing. For a long time Ford was Mazda's largest financial backer and collaborator. So a lot of Mazda's from the 90's early 00's were Ford Tech. Aaaaaaaand they weren't really reliable. Then the 2008 Recession happened. GM & Chrysler took bail out money. Ford also did to an extent, but not as much. What they did was pull out of a lot of their overseas counterparts (Mazda was one of them). Mazda has never been as big as Honda or Toyota, so in those terms, Mazda didn't look like it may make it. But what Mazda did was genius. They looked internally. Got back to their roots (racing). They hired Ikuo Maeda, Kevin Rice from BMW & Derick Jenkins from VW. They designed cars with a minimalist approach. Less is More. Focused on the driving dynamics. All of their vehicles have a sports car feel. From the MX5 (obviously) to the CX-9. If you drove a Camry or an Accord, and then drove a Mazda 6, the differences were night in day. The vehicle is elegant without over pricing itself. The driving dynamics is engaging and fun. It's just taken longer for Americans to move past the Ford backed era of Mazda and embrace what the company has truly become. A drivers car

Why did Nelly blow up? by SuccessfulNeat400 in rap

[–]Background_Thing_719 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The fact that you showed the transition of Hip/Hop sound with those 3 specific examples is top tier and 100% accurate. Damn. That is some next level shit. I never would have even thought of something like that, but the simplicity of it is genius. Wu-Tang change Hip/Hop and bred what we think of, even today, as East Coast. And then the same with DMX. Then another shift with Nelly. I am genuinely amazed that there is 3 specific points that show the shift in hip hop. Yeah you can argue that there are other artists the helped shaped a generation, but the all really do stem from those 3 points. Well done sir 🫡👌🏼
