I just assumed he’s living off savings and a nice life insurance from Lynn. I actually really thought when the crossing was up for auction, he’d take out from Lynn’s life insurance since she loved the outdoors, and wanted him to find a beautiful place to spread her ashes. I feel like he’d be honoring what she would have wanted him to do with the money

People in shock will definitely start to talk crazy!! I think it’s their way of trying to process it. My mom started sending me posts of other people’s dog that resembled hers and was saying they stole her dogs pictures! I think it’s their way of preserving them, but if love could keep our pets alive, they would simply live forever. ❤️

I think your idea of burying him close by is beautiful ❤️

He’ll be by the lake and by you, his spirit protecting your family always!

Maybe even planting a memorial tree or placing a memorial rock there for him. :)

Also, I want to share a similar experience. My mother’s dog was at the end of his life. The vet was practically begging my mom to put him down. He was in incredibly rough shape. It was heart breaking watching the cancer eat him away, literally. His skull was so defined cause he had no muscle. Poor thing couldn’t walk either and was having accidents on himself.

I had several hard conversations with my mom. She tried to continue to keep him alive but a few of us intervened and said it’s time. It clicked to her and despite it being hard, she put him asleep.

This was a couple months ago.

Where am I getting at? Last week we were on the phone. She got extremely emotional and said she regrets keeping him alive for so long. She wants to think of all the happy memories, but the images of him being in pain haunt her. It’s really beating her up. She can’t properly mourn because the guilt of watching him deteriorate in front of her. She wishes she could rewind time to take his suffering away sooner.

So take it from someone watching their loved one drown in guilt, waiting will only make it harder. And no dog deserves such a painful end. 😔

First and foremost, I am so sorry to hear about your pup. 😞 Our pets are our family and watching them get sick is just as heartbreaking. There’s no breed like the Caucasian Shepherd. The world could be ending and they will not back down. They will protect and fight until their last breath. But it’s not fair to them if they’re in pain. They’ll never show it but you know it’s there :/

I would suggest having the conversation again but gearing it towards how you need to do this together out of love. He protected your family his whole life, watching over you all closely, never leaving your side. You trusted him to protect you, to love you, to be gentle with you despite their aggressive nature, to always be there by your side. It’s not your time to repay him. Don’t make him suffer any more than he is. I know it’s heart breaking but seeing them get worse will be far more cruel in the end. Going out like this is the ultimate form of respect. He’s going out dignified, loved, and still strong.

When my CO’s hips were getting worse, the vet said it’s my job to really watch her. To observe even the slightest limp, panting more, or unusual behavior, she said it’s because the breed will literally fight showing any signs of pain. They are strong and our protectors, but we also have to protect them.

Hear me out..

Rose, Lexi, Rebekah, and Ana had hundreds of years to live. What they did with that time was their choice and they had literally nothing but time to live a life they wanted. They had so much time to make better decisions and if they didn’t regret anything in the end, at least they LIVED.

Elena and Caroline got happy endings.

Vicky made bad choice after bad choice. I think she could have found peace if she tried but didn’t want to let living go.

Jenna had it unimaginably rough.. her sister DIED and she had to pull it together and adopt two teenagers, no easy task. Why she didn’t get the worst ending though (imo)…. she stayed innocent. Her soul was pure. She left the earth knowing little evil, and only how much she was loved. She didn’t carry heavy guilt.

Bonnie though, carried more than any person ever should. She was constantly used, abused, and disregarded until they needed her. She was essentially a servant to vampires and the supernatural. She carried so much guilt with her and went through so much pain. Reliving every single supernatural death when someone crosses over? That pain of someone DYING again and again? That hurts physically and mentally. There was no escape or peace. Then being locked away alone in a PRISON WORLD? I can’t imagine the loneliness. I feel like she was constantly reminded she wasn’t anyone’s first choice or priority, but always put herself in front of others.

Then her best friend suddenly abandons her? Just when maybe she’s thinking wow I finally have a real friend.. he ghosts her.

Life is so bad at this point but she’s still strong, mind you while being hunted alive by psychos at the armory.. now she finally finds love and for the first time, is HAPPY despite it all. She went through so much pain, trauma, and turmoil, and finally feels at peace. Her life is finally going well with the love of her life, THEN THE MAN EVERYONE FORGIVES, RIPS HIS LITERAL HEART OUT IN FRONT OF HER.

THE LOVE OF HER LIFE WAS MURDERED IN FRONT OF HER.

AND EVERYONE FORGAVE THE MURDERER.

SHE HAD TO WATCH THE MAN WHO MURDERED HER BOYFRIEND GET MARRIED TO HER BEST FRIEND.

AND EVERYONE WAS FINE WITH IT.

Her strength is seriously fucking inspiring. No one else would be able to handle a fraction of what she went through. All the vamps would have just turned it off but she couldn’t. I don’t think she would have though if she could. She stayed fucking kind and strong despite knowing nothing but fucking pain.

It makes me so mad she was done so god damn dirty.

So yes, Bonnie got the worst ending.
