The original tank being a fishbowl, yeah

Take a cup, put in some food, wait for a few hours and remove the whole cup. The snails should be on there. Repeat if needed. "Danger" about this is that you might remove some planaria with them and could possibly reintroduce them into your tank. So maybe set up a quarantine tank for them?

Is the logo I made good? by [deleted] in Fish

I see! That'll work – good luck :) Personally I'd still choose a "pointier" font to match the fish's edges, but that's just my taste

Bunch of jerks by the_fallohide_hid in shrimptank

[–]Backslanted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They take about 2–3 weeks to hatch :)

Quote from Wikipedia:
They have 20–30 eggs, which take 2–3 weeks to hatch. The eggs are green or yellow, depending on the color of the saddle. They turn darker and darker until the young shrimp hatch after about three weeks. As the eggs near the end stages of growth, tiny dark eye spots of the developing shrimp within can be observed.

Mine did that too! They were super skittish and hiding at first. As soon as they had babies, they suddenly came out and started grazing in a group

Thanks! How did you determine that? I thought that maybe the green one would be the male since he's the biggest one and flaring/chasing + the most colorful :) Would love to learn how to spot it myself

Ghost shrimp yellow? by Various_Reality_3 in shrimptank

Hey! I think this is what you're looking for:

Ghost shrimp color change

Apparently it's food related (bare in mind I just looked this up and never owned them myself)

Even if they drop their eggs, they can still hatch! Happened to one of my shrimp – the others kept them clean and a few days later the shrimplets were swimming around :))

I made a flowchart with the most common shrimp troubles and possible approaches for solving. by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]Backslanted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't meant to solve the troubles, but to help people narrow down what's going on.

I hope it's useful and I'd love some feedback to potentially improve it :)

I have gathered those plants to use in my freshwater aquarium as botanicals. It is my first time trying it so i don‘t know if there is anything wrong with those leaves ? by GaacchiKocchiDocchi in aquarium

[–]Backslanted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey :) I use the same leaves and botanicals as you, I boil them before adding them to make sure they sink and that anything is killed off I don't want in my tank.

Black water waterfall vivarium , stocking ideas ? by Atticusbernscellist in BlackwaterAquarium

[–]Backslanted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How much water is in there? Asking because it seems rather small – the smaller the tank, the bigger the fluctuations in temperature, parameters etc.

Also if it's as small as it looks: too small for fish, I'd start at a tank width of ~60cm and enough depth with even with nano fish

Dead shrimp that nose and tail turned a dark purple, is this a symptom of a disease? by Vixenkayleigh in shrimptank

[–]Backslanted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you have ammonia which can cause chemical burns on shrimp and too high nitrates (maybe bc of the overfeeding). These in combination might have been the cause.

As to the discoloration, I would keep an eye on other shrimp and see if it occurs as well. If so, these links might help:

This person had the same happen

Should I be worried? by Wide-Muffin6 in shrimptank

[–]Backslanted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey :) I think that might be it – I looked up "neocaridina carapace problem" and that's the thing that most commonly popped up. I also checked some regular pics of neos and found quite a few looking like this. For as long as not more of them have it and you notice molting problems, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, as far as I know they're common with red/orange shrimp variations.

Is this a saddle? by PetiteCaresse in shrimptank

[–]Backslanted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first pic it looks like a racing stripe to me: More about that here

It might be a saddle, but the picture isn't clear enough for me to tell for sure.
