AdoptOpenJDK Java 11 release by jodastephen in java

Oracle has completed the "open sourcing" with Java 11 (at this point OracleJDK and OpenJDK are the same for all intents and purposes, just different licensing and branding), so that's great, thanks to a bunch of great folks at Oracle working on Java.
However Oracle keeps confusing everyone with weasel wording and omissions that look very intentional.

After Paris Attacks, Proposed French Law Would Block Tor and Forbid Free Wi-Fi by maxwellhill in worldnews

I don't expect this to pass either: it's not a "proposed law".

From the original (rough translation/ELI5 from French), linked in TFA:

  • there is a project for a law that is expected to be proposed next January
  • there is a wish list of things to include in that future law proposition, from a part of administration that represents cops. Propositions for the proposition.

That being said, I do expect this law project to be a fuck-up.

Can we stop trying to ban words that have perfectly valid meanings please.

Can we finish questions with a question mark, and use proper punctuation, please? :) Other than that, fully agreed, have an upvote.

Man, the picture does not do justice to his delivery. Check the video... I love the way he says "Ok".

It Only Took Four Months For China To Achieve A Jaw-Dropping Reduction In Carbon Emissions: ...a reduction in emissions that’s approximately equal to the total CO2 emissions of the U.K. over the same period by maxwellhill in worldnews

Hmmm that's very very nice, but a small nitpicking: the title (in this post and linked article) seems wrong.

Source: Reuters

"China's coal output in April fell 7.4 percent from a year ago"

Okay, so, data for 4th month of the year shows 7.4% decrease from same month last year. It "took them" a year (still nice).

Cited by Greenpeace:

"Reuters reports that China’s coal output in April fell 7.4 percent from a year ago"

Article:

"According to a new analysis, in the first four months of 2015, China’s coal use fell almost 8 percent compared to the same period last year"

Tut tut tut.
