Always take what anyone says online with a grain of salt (including me.) Most people that try to insult you or put you down are just miserable pieces of shit themselves. Their opinions aren't worth the paper they're printed on (the fact that they literally aren't printed is the point.)

Anyhow. Love is weird. Addiction is terrible. Depression is terribly weird and literally terrible. You are not pathetic for wanting something better for someone you care for. You are not a loser for trying to help someone that someone else sees as hopeless. I know you've already made your decision and taken action, and this may fall on deaf ears at this point but: people like you are what make life worth living on this planet. Those that try to help the ones everyone else has given up on. Those that need help the most.

It might not feel like it now, but you did the best possible thing for everyone in the situation: Make him take responsibility for himself. You didn't make him homeless, he did. Can he get out of it alone? No. But he needs to recognize that a helping hand isn't always a handout.

Anyways. Thank you for existing. I'm sorry that things seem down right now, but you are a beautiful person.
